I have a load of images scanned into my computer from old African photos and would like to get the restored versions printed. The original scanned photos were 86mmx86mm (2032px*2032px) and 125mmx86mm (2952x2032) Where's a good place to get these printed and do they even make photo paper in these sizes anymore, is that about 3x3 and 5x3?

I've looked at the sizes they do and can't see either of the sizes I need, should I try cropping the pictures to 6x4 or something and reduce the quality to 300dpi instead of the 600dpi they are at the moment

Photobox give the best quality prints from online services that I have used.

With your custom requirements, it might be worth contacting them to ask whether they can accomodate what you require. The other option is get it printed with large borders around in and then crop it at home to whatever size/aspect you want it to be.

Usually getting photobox prints are quicker than giving it to a local studio and you dont even have to leave the house.

If you upload the scans you have to photobox as is they'll do all the resizing you need. The smallest square they do is 5"x5" and you've got plenty of pixels to do that. the 5X3 aspect ratio might be a bit tricky but they give you the option of specifying a crop or opting for a fit to size option which will leave you with white borders, these can easily be trimmed with a stanley knife & straight edge or a trimmer if you have access to one.

cool, I'll get them to do 5x5 prints, I won't get any stretching will I or will it be ok from the high res?

edit/ also what would be the best size photo to get for the 5x3s with minimal amount of cropping (7.5x5 maybe?)

The 5x5s will be no problem at all. For the 5x3s I think you could be struggling, the 6x4 or 9x6 is the nearest to the aspect ratio but it'll still be a fair crop. You'd be better off going for the long edge size you want, picking a shrink to fit option and trimming them yourself.
