As per the title, where have people here purchased Rattan furniture from? I finished my patio last year but couldn't afford to buy any furniture. Ideally looking for a table and 8 chairs.

Are we talking genuine rattan as in made out of the tree/plant or the artificial and cheaper stuff with a rattan look?

My parents have bought twice from https://jysk.co.uk/garden/garden-sets and the prices and quality seem really good. Thinking about getting a set ourselves. They have a store in Ellesmere Port and one in Bolton so not too far from you?

To add, I've linked you to the sets (1 table, 4 chairs in most instances) but they sell the chairs separately too and for not too much money.

That store looks really good, I may even pop in!

Wasn't aware there was cheap Rattan imitation available!

Well, the stuff sold by JYSK (and most other shops nowadays) is Polyrattan which is like a plastic alternative but with the same look.

Proper rattan furniture is like a wicker made out of a plant but is much more expensive.

don't understand why rattan is so popular. it's not comfortable i find. went for wrought iron personally with removable cushions.

top up the paint every year and it should last forever. whereas rattan won't.

I've sat on a fw whilst walking around homebase (these are probably polyrattan) and they were comfy enough for me.
better than our wooden set we have at home.

I'm not sure how rattan, which has a bit of give in it, can be more uncomfortable than wrought iron, which has no give?! :p

I have neither but will be buying soon.

ours has cushions on top of the wrought iron. whereas i have found rattan leaves marks on your arms with the pattern of the weave, etc. worse if you are wearing shorts, or topless, etc.

We replaced our old Teak set last year with cast aluminium from Hartman. Its not cheap, but should last forever and being quite light is a lot easier to move around. We did consider the rattan style but it looked like a pain to keep clean, especially when the local birds take large dumps.

If you can wait until the end of the summer lots of discount deals will be on.

My parents have had a few of those rattan garden sets from the DIY centre. They never lasted more than a few summers, but insisted on buying them because they're so cheap.

I have two sets of rattan, cheap homebase stuff, been outside 24/7 365 for last 7 years and all still looks great.

The base and frame are rattan, with cushions on top, comfy as hell

Try GroupOn they normally do a lot of rattan offers, got a set of there a couple of years back and it was no different from all the stuff being sold in the chain stores but a faction of the price. Been outside since and looks as good as new.
