Where to get Ultimate Doom?

Anyone know where I could get the original versions of Doom (at least with Jdoom perhaps)? All this recent talk of it gave me feelings of nostalgia, and I wouldn't mind giving the games a spin again. I heard you can pretty much get Ultimate Doom for free nowadays, and with some modern updates to boot - can anyone give me a pointer?

You can't get it free legally, but it's very cheap. There was a Doom compilation released relatively recently, around the same time as Doom 3. It's called Doom Collector's Edition. I bet you could find a copy of that easily enough. It was only £10 originally so it's nice and cheap.

There are lot's of updated versions like jDoom but they all require the original game files. I played one fairly recently but I'm not sure if it was jDoom or something else.

A well known high street game shop was still selling copies in their "two for £15" section a week or two back.

isn't it adbandonware now?

doomsday
No such thing as abandonware.

Even if there were, Doom wouldn't become abandonware just because it's old. Money is still being made from the original Doom as you can get it on Xbox Live now. And no doubt there are still many commercial ports in production for various systems.

I'm not gonna lie to you - I torrented the wads a while back for use with jDoom. Works a dream, and has nicer graphics.

Know anyplace where I could perhaps find the Playstation Doom .wad? I recently bought Collectors' Edition and downloaded Doomsday for it (improved graphics). Just wondering if the PSX wad is available as I remember that having way better sounds, music and some textures.

Unusual question. If you could decompile a rom of it you might find a wad in there. Don't know the file structure for PSX games.

But I think this is discussion of "warez", so hush. :)

Yes, you're pushing it a little with the emulation stuff, and asking for it will only lead to deletion.
