It's been a while since I dabbled in hardware and figure it's time for an upgrade.

These are the current specs of my desktop;

AMD Phenom II x3 710
3gb DDR2
Gigabyte board (I forget the actual board but one PCI-e and 2 ram slots)
Nvidia 9800 GT
600W PSU

I play WoW, use it to work from home and occasionally play other games.

It's driving two monitors, both at full HD.

I find it a little slow gaming and also laggy in general use.

I should also add I don't want to spend an fortune but am welcome to suggestions that offer good value for money, I do spend a lot of time on this machine.

Cheers

So long as your PSU is a solid brand, upgrade for that would really be looking at:

i5
Low end Z68 Mobo
4/8GB of RAM
560 GPU.

I guess depending on your mobo you could see if you could get a better AMD chip and put a better GPU in, would work out cheaper, but not sure if it would really be worth it...

The board is not amazing, it's an interim board. I assume that the CPU is not great then?

The PSU is coolermaster silent-pro modular.

As to how much, that's a fair question but I honestly don't know. Less than £500 but more than £200.

would want the psu you have to be at least 500w.
