Hi,

I have just received my MAC code from BT and was wondering which ISP to go to now?

My line can take up to 7Meg and I can't get an LLU line, I was looking at TitanADSL what are peoples thoughts on them?

I'd say one of the Entanet resellers (ADSL24, UKFSN etc) or Plusnet given the lack of decent LLU on your exchange.

Be sure to compare peak time usage(s) and off peak allowances for each though as per your requirements.

I would say that I'm just a average user so maybe the TitanADSL 30 package would be fine, I have also looked at ADSL24 but have read some iffy comments about speed, I'm just sat at work ready to order :)

If your a torrenter or newsgroup person, then just schedule them for offpeak. I found that on plusnet a few years ago, the 30GB peak time usage was more than adequate with good scheduling.

Just had a call from BT and they have now just offered if I stay with them my broardband for £15 and £3 off my line rental, what do you think the best thing for me to do????? TitanADSL is £19.56.

I'm just concerned about staying another year with BT as my speeds have been all over the place.

I'd still probably move, as they'll probably put you into another 18 month contract of pain to get that discount.

Id stay away from Enta, gone way downhill since they changed to IPSC, and theres more changes afoot.

Everyones off, theres hell on.

Everyone's going there though, there's no choice long term so there's some argument for dealing with the pain now and they'll be more experienced with dealing with IPSC in the long run.

You could argue it was a little brave (or dumb) to be among the first and essentially BTs guinea pig for the migration but still, everybody will have to deal with the pain at some point, other ISPs may make even more of a hash of it...

Non LLU, non Enta based = Zen

Everything else is just rubbish, and if you're not a heavy user 25Gb a month should be more than adequate.

Such a broad comment.
I will not deny that Zen are good.
However to say that any other non-LLU connection will be "rubbish" I feel is a rather broad statement and very incorrect.

I'd broadly support that for most users, LLU then Enta if you can live with IPSC and need the bandwidth or Zen if you don't need the bandwidth. Zen are still a class above most ISPs out there (reflected in their prices to be honest).

Sure there will be little niche providers (I have my DSL from an ISP I worked for and it's fantastic, unlimited, cheap and I know the support guys). But as general advice goes that's about the best available.

Yes sorry that statement was perhaps a littttle too sweeping, but as mr redshark says it is broadly true.

Andrews & Arnold ISP etc. others like that are good too, but again you pay for it.

As with everything in the world, pay your money, take your choice.
