Hi

anyone know where I can get an infra red transmit/recieve module to plug into the irda header on my motherboard (ASRock939)?

Presuming the headers are standard & it's not an asrock specific accessory.

Thanks in advance :)

edit: Nevermind, I guess I'll just get a usb one

unless its on this site we cannot tell you due to competitor rules

That's odd. I can understand "where can I get X cheaper than oc.uk" being taboo (and rightly so).

But usually the sort of shop conversation that goes:

Customer>Have you got a widget?
Shopkeeper>No we don't stock those, but I think Freddy's Widgets down the road does them
Customer>Ah, cheers.

only leads to the customer :

a) Thinking better of the shop
b) More likely to return to the shop, given the good/friendly service just recieved.

Just an observation like, I've always been more than happy with the products & services provided by oc & regularly big you guys up to my friends.

Cheers

Thing is, you might find a 3D card half the price while you're there.

:edit: + the forum would be brimming with "OMFUG Y IZ IT CHEEPER IN *Insert retailer name here* U GIYZ SuKz!?"

mmm, half price, unlikely :) While this isn't always the very rock bottom cheapest site, It's usually my preferred choice given the very good delivery & customer service I've recieved. Even after checking competitor sites & price comparison sites.

Oh no  I really hope posts like that would be nuked :)

well the no competitor rule is in place mainly because the dons are lazy and dont want to go round deleteing all of those sort of threads :p
and also because spie provides these forms free of charge so he wants to limit the chance of someone coming on here and finding somewhere else to buy something as he would be shooting himself in the foot ;)

Why don't you ask at the place you bought the Asrock motherboard?

Surely they should know what is available?

And yes - you are right, any IR transceiver will work with that header. You just need to find a case with an IRDA sensor in it.

Something like this?

This is the DFI LP SLI-DR Irda module but the pins could swapped round to easily fit any board.

I have been using mine with my phone no problems. I just need to find the software so it works with my TV card. Much better than a USB dongle at the front.
