Hi Guys,

Going to be setting up my 5.1 speakers (Z5400s) and needed to ask a quick question.

Does it matter where I place the front 2 speakers and centre?

The reason why I ask is that I was considering putting up a shelf above my monitor to hold those speakers just to keep the wires off my desk.

Should I move them or leave them where they are (on my desk)?

BTW Ive got the subwoofer under the desk away from my PC (near the plug socket though) and unfortunately the rear 2 have to be on the floor since I dont have anything nearby to stand them on (any ideas?!?)

TIA

Have the front three level in height. As for rears don't have them on the floor, buy floorstands or mount them on the wall.

Any suggestions regards floor stands for the Z5400 rears? The desk is central and behind it is a wardrobe so unfortunately I dont have a nearby wall to fix them to :(

Is there any reason not to have the front 2 + centre not at desk height? I presume thats where its assumed to be rather than above the TV/monitor itself?

First set of 5.1s so just making sure of assumptions :p

desk height means that when they are angled on their nice little stands they sound will actually be aimed at your ears, not at the ceiling if you mount them at head height...

and as for the rears, perhaps you can attach them temporarily to the wardrobe when they are 'needed' ??? and just leave under the desk when not in use or something?

Excellent suggestion :)

Ill keep them on the desk then and see if the rears stretch to the wardrobes behind - probably need at least 2.5m length cable...
