I have a fairly beefy centre speaker arriving this week and was wondering where to put it!

It will not fit under the shelf the TV is on, and even if it did, the xbox would need to be moved!

Well then either move the XBox and stand it end up either to the left or right... or wall mount the TV and put the centre on the top of the cabinet.

whats the T.V model ? i know its Panasonic :)

Wall mount the TV. Brackets are cheap enough these days.

Hope you're happy with the new centre. :)

Thanks. I sure it will be great, dunno where to put it before I get the arrangement sorted. .. It's a lil bigger than I thought lol! Thanks Nick, saw it got picked up today

Dunno about wall mount.. It will put the tv about a foot or more further back and there will be so much unit!

It's a Panasonic gt30 46in

Wouldn't a stand in front the unit look a little off?

Mounting the speaker was one option. Was just worried it would be so high being above the tv?

One thing I looked at.. Similar to wall mount.. Was a tv tabletop stand. I need 18.5cm clearance for the centre! It's huge!

It wouldn't look off to me but it's personal preference (I care more about optimal speaker positioning/sound than if it looks nice). It also involves the least amount of faffing about, but hey.

wall mount tv, centre on exisitng stand be the best thing you ever did

dont worry about raising the tv up higher to make space for the stand, having the tv higher increases the depth of the picture and makes it more cinema like ;)

This is expecially true with panny plasmas which is where I have seen it done - I raised my tv higher as soon as I saw it - max height of my Atacama AVI stand - will be wall mounting my kuro very soon higher still ;)

the worry for me isn't so much the height as making the screen look smaller as it is further back

It's an excuse to get a bigger TV :D

In all honesty I doubt it will make the slightest bit of difference.

i dont know what difference 1.5 foot will make to the effective viewing size, l get a cardboard mock up and put it on the wall, if i had planned to mount the tv i would have probably got a 50"!

It won't fit! That's where I was going to put it

It's 20cm high! It would only fit on bottom shelf

Ditch the unit and wall mount the TV and speaker. Or as suggested, wall mount the TV and stick the speaker on top the stand. It will make the TV look a lot smaller though.

Make a direct attach shelf for your center speaker to go directly above the TV and aim it down towards you. Use the standard Vesa mounts to mount it. Solid and practical. Cost is under £20.
Frees up shelf space and sounds really good. I did this with mine as I have a coffee table (solid wood) right between the TV and sofas and the sound would go partially into it. Plus being above the TV frees up the stuff that has infra red remotes that need to be zapped without being blocked by the coffee table again.
I will upload a pic in a bit when I find one of my lounge or I'll take a new one.
