Where to sell my airsoft rifle?

Look at airsoft forums some have for sale boards etc, I had a similar problem with a paintball gun, it being classed as a firearm and all...

A mate of mine used to be into Airsoft "back in the day" before he become relentlessly boring (went to art college).

He sold his to an Airsoft...place? I don't know what their called, so they could rent them.

Alternatively you could go along and see if anyone is interested in buying it.

No but the guns are illegal to sell.

Labour's useless Violent Crime Reduction Act.

The Headlines

From the 1st of October 2007 it will be illegal to sell, manufacture or import realistic imitation firearms within the UK.

Furthermore, selling an imitation firearm to, or the purchase of an imitation firearm by, anyone under the age of 18 years is illegal under Section 40 of the Act. Contravening this is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment, a fine or both. In blunt terms it will not be legal to sell imitation firearms (of which realistic imitation firearms should be seen as a sub-set) to anyone under 18.

They did untill the VCR bill was passed. Now if you want to sell your "RIF" you have to sell it as parts. Not visited ASCUK recently but even posting pics of an assembled RIF in the for sale sections was a no no. Good luck trying to shift it.

I'm interested as well as I might sell my G36. Not moreso where to sell it but rather how to do it properly - make sure they are UKARA registered and all that claptrap.

Not true at all!, you can still buy and sell guns as you please you just need to be UKARA registered to buy Zeroin.co.uk is a good place to start if you want to sell.

RIFs (Real Imitation Firearms) are illegal to sell/manufacture/import as per the VCRA. A lot of site owners etc. battled against it and were granted an exemption. That is to say should you be able to PROVE you are a skirmisher/entitled to buy a RIF then it is ok to sell them to you. There are several ways to prove it, the easiest/most common is to be UKARA registered. UKARA is NOT a licence, it's proof of exemption to the VCRA that retailers use. You could also do it via becoming a full time member of an insured and fully recognised airsoft skirmish site and having the retailer contact your site before selling you the RIF.

As for selling them, you don't need to be UKARA registered (and indeed a lot aren't if they obtained RIFs prior to the VCRA) but you do to buy one. You as the seller are obligated to only sell to those with a valid excemption to the VCRA. Not a lot of forums allow full sales of RIFs as they would have to check UKARA numbers etc. for you.

Zero ones forum allows sales of full RIFs and it's quite popular - http://www.zeroin.co.uk/
Airsofters.co.uk allow you to sell parts etc - http://www.airsofters.co.uk

For anyone interested in the VCRA and airsoft... - http://www.airsofters.co.uk/VCRA.doc

where did you get that from :p ? to purchase an airsoft gun you must be UKARA registered, if you already own one thats fine

UKARA is just an easier way for the retailers to keep track of who can provide a defence.

UK Airsoft Retailers Association.

You just have to prove you are a skirmisher to buy, this is easy if you are UKARA registered but it is definately NOT the only way you can provide a defence!

One example I will use is this;

The Mall in Reading has a stall from Airsoft Armoury (I think it is AA).
The bloke running it clearly said that if you look like a skirmisher (ie covered head to toe in about a grands worth of kit) then you're obviously not some kid out to buy a gun to scare people with so he was satisfied with your appearance as a defence (perhaps also the fact that The Mall is pretty hardcore!).

UKARA really is just an easier way to do things, but it is definately not the only way!
