Where to sell retro hi-fi stuff?

Bit of a random question, but I've got a full size kenwood stacker system that I inherited and it's too big for me...

It's not exactly high end being kenwood, but it's a smart system with good sound... and in pretty much showroom condition... I'm sure it's worth a couple of hundred quid to someone, Its a 5.0? (front rear and centre speakers) matching system with cabinate (i've not checked if the amp has a Sub pre-out)

any Ideas?

difficult to know what sort of price to put on it though, looking at ebay it's probably worth about £400/500 quid

I wouldn't knock Kenwood. It's good gear. I'd have that any day over Technics.

These were two brands I sold in the late '80s. Whenever we demoed one against the other, Kenwood always won. At the same price point, Kenwood had better sound and more features.

EBay gets your gear infront of substantially more pairs of eyes, and that increases the chance of a sale. It doesn't have to be an auction sale. You can put it on at a fixed price or do a 'nearest offer' listing. It's quite a good time to sell now too. Lots of folks sitting at home, bored.

Members Market here is a much smaller audience. That doesn't mean to say you can't find a buyer though.

Facebook Marketplace can be quite useful. There's the general market which is split into the usual classifieds sub-divisions to help narrow things down. There are also more specialised groups dealing specifically in 'vintage' Hi-Fi. I've recently bought an old Dual TT from the early 80s for my son's girlfriend. I have my eyes open for an old amp and some speakers to go with it.

AV Forums has a big classifieds market, but I think you need to be a member for a certain length of time and have a minimum post count before you're allowed to play.

The social media and forum sits have no cost to the seller or buyer. EBay costs the seller about 16-18%, but both parties get some protection.

Search EBAY 'completed listings' to get an idea of price points.

Nope AVF has zero restrictions for the classifieds section. Hence why you have to keep your wits about you. Always CEX/PSN voucher and payday scams on there.

Really? Can't say I've ever had an issue. I have bought and sold Hi-Fi and AV hardware, plus Blu-ray and 4K discs. Is this more of an issue with the gaming crowd?
