Current build is:

AMD Phenom II x6 1055T running at 3.1GHz with arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev 2
M5A97Pro Motherboard
8GB Kingston HyperX 1600MHz (DDR3)
Sapphire Radeon HD 6870
Corsair TX 650W Power supply
Windows 7 64bit
500Gb Western Digital Caviar Black HDD

Most components are about 2 years old now and starting to get lower frame rates in the latest games (although lets not take Rome 2 into consideration for that...)
PC mostly used for gaming and web browsing.
Where should I start in order to get noticeable improvements to frame rates and loading times etc?
Thinking it could be worth chucking an SSD in but that'll do little for the fact that the system in general is starting to get a little long in the tooth. CPU or GPU holding me back? Reckon I push for a larger over clock on the CPU?

Any and all advice is appreciated folks, thanks.

1) Grab SSD just to add some pace to your PC

2) Get a better aftermarket cooler (we need to know what case you have to spec one)

3) Overclock the 1055T to it's limit. :)

4) Add a 7950 :)

All in all about £300-£330! :)

Cheers for the quick reply! Case is an antec 900 so can accept water cooling. Was thinking of sticking something like a corsair h80 in there. Plenty of space.

Hmm, some good options there. Think I'll be ordering myself an ssd and new graphics card. How much more do you reckon I'd be able to get out of the cpu, currently goes no higher than 55 degrees whilst under load.
