where to stash item on fallout NV

i'm about 3 hours in at max weight and have nowhere to stash my items.

like in fallout 3 i had the house in megaton and could keep all my stuff safe in there, is there nothing like this in new vegas where it can be placed for safe keeping and future use.

You'll get a place to stay eventually in the main quest. Saying where would detract from the story though.

There are several rooms and places to stay in FO:NV, you are offerred many rooms, one is storyline based.

Earliest place is Novac I think, motel room, but stashing stuff inside a mailbox usually works just as well.

There's a abandoned shack quite near Good Springs. I believe it's next to the monument, it has a re loading bench, bed, ammo boxes and some other storage areas.

Head to Novac, and you can get a hotel room there. I've been using that as my home since very near the start of the game. More convenient location than the one you will get in the main story line (it's so close to a fast travel point). That said, 3hrs in you should really be selling your loot rather than stashing it!

Novac is where the 1st proper house is, until then i stored everything in a cupboard in the old mans house in goodsprings (the guy who sits outside the bar). Used this until i got to novac and never lost anything.
