I don't live on here like I used to so haven't got MM access anymore, and my wife has finally conceded that after all the hype, she doesn't really get on with MacOS like she thought she would so we have a M4 macbook pro to shift.

I'm a bit wary of ebay so thought I'd ask where you guys would go for a sale that you'd trust wouldn't end up with you being scammed.

I've shifted about £6k of kit on eBay with no issues, they've revamped the process and it's much improved. That said for a MBP I'd put it on Facebook marketplace, or AV Forums if you have access. Failing that then there's plenty of places such as CEX etc but you'll take a hit.

Cheers, it's been a while since I sold anything on ebay so that's good to hear.

CEX I imagine would offer me like 600 quid or something so might take a gamble on ebay or fb

It's only fifteen posts in a rolling 90 day period to get back. You've made two in this thread already so it's down to thirteen.

Items priced correctly in MM tend to sell. Worth a thought.

Ebay, safe but you get returns, and you dare not argue a refund. You always lose.
Facebook MM, loads of time wasters, but it will sell.
CEX etc, always knock you down on price, but easy sale.

Oh I thought it was higher than that. Been a while since I sold anything on there but always had good experiences buying and selling so may do that

The ba is pretty low. A general stroll through GD over 2-3 days and your post count will easily be high enough.

Remember once you go past 1k you need to report it to HMRC now.

You can price Check on cex website pretty easily, they will low ball you a bit as they are obviously gonna flip it so need x margin, but it's hassle free.
They will knock items down from grade A to grade B though unless it's basically as new with all packaging.

I had a device downgraded to B grade price because there was a biro scribble on the retail box but it is what it is.

Only on profit.. Like if you're doing it as a business.
Selling second hand personal items at a loss doesn't matter.

For example if I bought a gpu 5 years ago for £300, and sell it for £100, that's a £200 loss and doesn't count in terms of tax liabilities, as there's no profit to tax.

That doesn't stop HMRC coming after you, trust me, I've just been though 6 months of hell from them over 2018-2023 ebay sales.
