where'd the sound go?

Lost sound in vlc, compro dtv, you tube, iplayer, after doing a flash update.

HELP! it's driving me crazy enough to want to smash this bloody thing through the wall!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you set your output to go out of the s/pdiff or some other audio port that you have nothing plugged into?

Is the sound muted?

Is the audio device working in device manager?

Is your default audio device something random like a blutooth headset or webcam or something? I've seen that happen before.

Everything was working fine until problem reports told me to update flash, so i did. Windows sounds and mp3's through WMP are still working fine bizzarely???

Ok so no-one wants to help with that, so , did a full reinstall, and now vista is being a real arse and won't install any updates.

Come on guys give me some bloomin help!

Looks like the flaming mobo's died now, everything spins up, but no beeps or anything displaying on the monitor.

I have got the same problem...even tried to install IE9 beta..didnt work either...iam getting really upset..why is there always somet wrong??
did u sort it out btw??

Is the cable in?

Download ubuntu and chuck that on a cd and boot from it, you should get sound when it boots up, if not, then hardware problem
