had the 360 now since launch and was fiarly happy for the first few months when film trailers and music videos were freely available and coming out steadily .

the last 6 months tho has been absolutely awefull... wheres it all gone ??? no film trailers since ( i think ) MI:3 and now it seems to be dribs of music thats either nothing pop groups or big artists you have to pay for to get the music video ( Oasis + RW being 2 of them ).

game trailers are all well and good but i want movie trailers/music vids etc

what the smegs going on ??? most disappointed

yeah i downloaded that out of sheer desperation... i'm not a big SP fan but got it to see what it was like.

that was the first entire episode of anything thats been available since launch day. 20 mins for 1 gig............a start but need more microsoft..MORE....................................................

It is a bit of a shame that there isnt more, Id like a lot more demos too. If you are bored have a look into the Microsoft/Xbox IPTV stuff. Looks very impressive.

I suspect the decline in trailers/music videos is simply because in the states the video marketplace is available selling films/tv shows rendering trailers a bit redundant.

always last in the pecking order for everything in europe it appears

It's too late, now you have paid your £40 a year they are laughing all the way to the bank!!! :D

On a serious note, it does look like now that video marketplace is available for USA, there is not much content for (mainly) European territories being added.
I liked the film trailer stuff mainly. As it is the same (ish) quality as the Apple HD trailers you can get on PCs and Mac. The South Park thing was pure luck. When it was released UK was not included, they added it after people complained.

From what I understand the IPTV stuff will be specific to a different 360 hardware that is released (xbox360 IPTV version). Won't be available with the normal 360 that 10million people have purchased, so far.

Don't understand what they'd add though? It already has a network port so the rest is just a matter of the software, surely

But why give the software for free, when you can charge for a new machine?

Or is everyone lumping IPTV and PVR's together?

The irony is xbox 360 owners moaning about no trailers, and PS3 owners moaning cos they get too many trailers not enough demos lol

What trailers are on PS3 then? And whcih format are they offered in?

At the very least I am expecting a 720p or 1080p Spiderman 3 teaser trailer..

I think the IPTV decoding/recoding requires a different hardware chip. (much like the standard 360 does not have a chip to do HDMI scaling/output).

I am surprised with the tri-core CPU's that they can't do this kind of thing within software, seeing as the CPU is actually general purpose. But a lot of this IPTV stuff is a grey area at the moment (I think MS should not even have mentioned that there will be new versions so far in the future (I think IPTV version was said to be coming end of the year (xmas time  ) ).

http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Store I think it still needs a couple of updates added to that page though.

Some of it is 1080p some of it is 720p. It is all in MP4.

Think the PS store will have a lot of trailers on it because Sony have a huge movie studio and the PS3 is a big fron for BluRay.

Easy, just sign up to a US sliver account and download all the US stuff.

You can download full movies on the US ones and everything.

I assume they're in a similar position to which they are with the Zune, find someone to do it for them over here and we'll get it.

However signing up for a US account seems like a good plan, if only I could think of a GT... :o

Infact, Microscam have annoyed the hell out of me recently, stupidly insane prices over here, no Zune for ages etc etc.

Last year you could create a passport ID linked to a US address (postal address) and that would give you a USA ID. When you went to Marketplace you would see different content.

From what I understand this changed when the US video marketplace went live, to stop people doing this. Now the account has top be linked to a us payment type (US credit card I assume), to download stuff. If MS realise you have a dodgy USA account they delete it. not tried it myself since Video Market Place was launched.

Maybe there just isn't the demand for it the same as the USA or there maybe something in regards to licensing etc ... I dunno the ins and outs of it.
All I can think of is that the UK seems to have very restrictive download limits on even the fastest of broadband links and that is going to kill the IPTV market before it even gets going IMO. The number of actual non - LLU DSL providers with no GB limitation can be counted on one hand from what I can acertain. I dont see it all taking off fully until the restrictive caps are gone or everyone is converted over to BT21CN in a few years.
Just my 2p.

If it's watchable content why not look around the internet for some and either play them on your computer or stream them either way it's better than Xbox Live's one.

demos is the only thing i can be bothered with on live, anything watchable can get on my pc anyway.

They need to get some unique stuff, like SP or something, not just trailers and stuff you can get anywhere.
