Hi All

I'm Dave 25 and from Sheffield

Looking into building my first "real" desktop, not going big only a few hundred pounds just to run decent games and web.

I have built in the past with some help from my father, but i have always been into computers so i know where most of the bits and bobs go when i'm putting it all together.

We used to (or my father did) go to carboots and pick up old parts and build computers and sell them on, nothing fancy just something that worked. Now i'm wanting to try this out for myself but make something a little more up to date.

I'm am a big games player from Pong and Pitfall when i was 4 to Battlefield, Skyrim and Diablo 3 now... I've got 57k Achievement points to put it lightly and i don't really put the xbox on much...

I am joining OCUk for technical help and friendly advice, you guys and girls have a very active community and a very helpful nature, I've used these forums in the past for queries and advice but never been a member.

With a response like that i'd be inclined to think your not a girl but sometimes they can fool ya lol

Hi mate

I've posted in the general hardware about a 300-500 pound PC for gaming. At the moment i have an xbox360 but i'm selling that for around 250 and will buy a monitor with that money then build the PC, it may run to 600 i'm not sure yet.. i need it future proofed as i plan to spec up over the following year, but i need a good base just in case i have any problems and have to hold off.

Why did you join ? tech issue of new build? or just chat and friends?
 
My PC is so old now it struggles rotating digital pictures....and will not get a internet connection, hence why i am building a new one that will melt the other with its awesomness
 
Thanks guys.. i'm constantly harrasing people on the forums now, as i'm searching for a decent build but also looking at buying a built system and dropping specs onto general hardware to get opinions... lots of people not liking ebay and i don't blame them but there seems to be some ok deals around... if you can sniff em out
