Where's my sound driver gone

Nothing changed on the PC recently yet come to put on a youtube video and no dam sound.. WTF
It unes didn't work, nor did media player, lawd knows where the driver has sneaked off for a quiet kip too.

I had this happen to me as well.

Creative Audigy 2 driver kept going AWOL after an installation of Vista64.

Not sure exactly what fixed it in the end.

But I upped the voltage slightly for my memory as it was running at motherboard default and instaled newest drivers from the Creative website.

I had been overclocking my new system at the time so its possible the driver was getting corrupted, but who knows.

It has never happened since doing the above steps.

i used to have a similar problem with an SB Live! card, which would uninstall itself if the EXE for the main driver was terminated, requiring a re-install of the entire driver suite.

Ended up just powering down last night having got no where.
I think maybe a XP "repair" may be in order as I can't find a way to update an non existent driver

For reference it's an onboard sound card in the Intel Bad axe Mobo.

what is it with the Audigy 2's? I've got a ZS Audigy 2 and have had many problems the last few years with it, it's putting me off getting another Creative sound card to be honest.

Oh deep joy....

Got round to doing a "repair existing XP install" off the OS disc tonight and now I have a pc that wont get past the XP splash screen and just keeps restarting.

I hear an incoming nuke from somewhere outside the atmosphere on it's way, I'm sure.
