Wheres the best place to buy a car on credit?

Ok, I got a big family so was looking for a 7 seater estate. Um the budget... I dont know TBH, around 5-7k

For that sort of budget it might be worth your while having a look at one of the big used car supermarkets. They usually have a load of family cars in estate form which gives you a bit of choice. The downside to these supermarkets is that you'll get next to no sales advice. If you know what you want before you go, you can walk away with a very good deal though.

The best all round option IMO would be to go to a decent sized, reputable independent dealer. You won't pay main dealer prices but you should get all the benefits of warranty and customer service. You will pay a premium over private prices but the peace of mind is worth it (IMO).

The other option is to get a bank loan or other source of money and buy privately but from your post I gather that you want to get somethign on hire purchase.

does the place that supplies the car have to be the place you also get credit?!

why not try and find the best deal on credit, get yourself the loan and then go shopping?

i think the moneysupermarket offers quite a good comparison of loans.

i myself am currently using egg, i could have got a slightly lower interest rate if i went elsewhere but so far eggs customer service has been impeccable.

cheers.

Borrow the money from your bank. Get the biggest deposit you can. Then pay cash for the car.

In almost all cases, particularly when used cars are involved, finance from dealer = not as good as finance from a bank.

Plus, with the bank, the loan is not secured on the car.
