Haven't kept up with hardware for a while now and things seemed to have really moved on. Looking to update my PC which is starting to show it's age. When I got this PC it was a bit of a no brainer as it offered unrivalled bang for buck with it's huge overclocking potential.... I'm looking for some more of the same.

Current Rig:
XP-M2500 @ 2.5ghz (almost 50% overclock ;))
1gb PC3200 (OCZ 2x512mb)
NF7-S v2.0
9800pro with arctic cooler @ over XT speeds.
Enermax 650w Noisetaker PSU
Western Digital 5000AAKS 500gb SATA-II

What's the modern equivolent of the above? I'm thing it's Intel this time with the Conroe's?

Also I know my Hard Drive is plenty good enough to go in a new system so no need to replace that but what about my PSU?

Thanks for any input :)

PSU will be fine. You can get 20 pin to 24 pin adaptors for about £5.
Ram...Ballistix PC8500 would be similar
mobo...Asus P5K Deluxe or Maximus Formula
GFX...8800 GT/GTS
CPU....Q6600 G0

Can't go wrong with the Core2's dude, check out my signature, looks like a modern* day equivalent.

Don't forget to shop around before buying, saved myself about a ton on this build back in February.

Modern* - Nothings ever that modern where PC's are concerned, there's all ways something new around the corner that supersedes what you have!

if your not looking for a quad the C2D are very very good at clocking, running my E6420 (2.13ghz) at 3.4ghz, which is just over 60% gain :)

MMc2K3, might have to change your sig before a don does it for you, maximum of 4 lines im afraid
