Which 1000w+ PSU?

I am building a pc with mutliple gpus for rendering which will require a beefy PSU and was wondering if anyone can advice on which one to go for.

I was set on the EVGA SuperNova P2 1200W which should serve me fine for 3-4 cards, but saw the G2 1300w model at a much more attractive price point.

Now I do not know which to go for. On one hand the P2 has the platinum rating which should be very efficient and should save some money (over many many years) it also got a perfect score from jonnyguru. On the other hand the G2 is less efficient but with extra head room just in case, it is also £45 cheaper, this would give me the effeciency savings of the P2 upfront.

I am inclined to just go with the G2, but would also pay more for the P2 model if it was the better choice. but what do you think?

My concerns are, reliability, longevity, noise.

Many thanks.

I have not heard of the Super Flower model before, just checked the jonnyguru review and I really like it!

It also has a semi-fanless mode which is one of the things I liked about the P2.

My only concern is the 5 years warranty with the Super Flower vs 10 years with EVGA G2 model. Would that be a problem? This is my first build so do not know much about PSU failure rate or reliability. Is Super Flower a reputable brand? Also any idea of their RMA process? Is it as good as EVGA?

Many thanks.

I think they use the exact same internals. As the price difference is so small and the EVGA comes with more warranty, id just go with the EVGA. I didn't notice the warranty length.

Does the G2 not have semi fanless mode too..? :)

Which cpu and gpu's are you going to be using? Any overclocking? Superflower actually build the G2/P2/T2 ranges for EVGA and they are based on their own Leadex ranges. About the only difference is the fan and some minor changes. The EVGA's don't have the annoying leds that the Superflowers have either. If the EVGA has a advantage in warranty (10 years v 5 Years) I would go for the EVGA anyday. UK based RMA's with EVGA as well. The Corsair RMx series are also excellent.

Will be using an overclocked 5960x, nothing too crazy as it will be air cooled. GPU-wise it will be a 1070 until we get a clear picture of what if any 1080ti is looking like, and then will get upto 3 1080/ti. This is for rendering so SLI restriction should not apply.

EVGA's 10 years warranty is definitely a massive plus point.

the pinnacle of PSUs!

Plus if you buy this you help put food on the table for me! What's not to like?

Will do some reading up on it, though it is slightly above my budget. Many thanks.
