Hey all,

Looking at getting a 1070 today! Not sure on what one to get as the prices vary.

Looking at the Inno3D iChill Air Boss X4 or the Zotac 1070 AMP Extreme Spectra RGB (Not sure if its too big for my case tho!)

Good cooling is a must for me, am running dual monitors, one 1440p and the other 1080p. Dont particularly want to spend more than £420 or so

Thanks!

Leo

Zotac would be my choice, 5 year warranty is killer. The inno3D is very good as well though, you can't go wrong with either IMO so if you prefer the looks of one over the other that could swing it too. Both perform very well.

Ah thanks for the reply! Main concern is size atm. I have the Sapphire 290x Tri-X 8gb, which is a pretty big card. Have plenty of room for length, just width and height!

Ive noticed in the dimensions for the cards that the Zotacs height is 150mm, while the Inno3Ds is 115.2, this seems like quite a big difference. You think Zotac is taking into the bracket measurements? The cooler cant be nearly 4cm bigger!

Thanks for the link, seems like an isolated incident though?

Looks like an isolated incident to me too. No manufacturer produces 100% perfect cards all the time so I wouldn't read in to it too much.

If support is no.1 importance then look at EVGA cards as apparently they have the best support as well as transferrable warranty when you sell it and a few other niceties.

Well I have the Inno3d X3, look at a side on picture of that and compare it to the Zotac, the Zotac certainly looks quite a bit taller than the bracket. From whats people say on here the Zotac runs very cool, perhaps because that heatsink really is huge. Wiuth Inno3D I wouldn't choose the X4 over the X3 tho' that silly little fan on top seems a little pointless, much like RAID with lots of drives that is probably one more thing to fail rather than a true benefit.

Yeah good point, that makes the Inno £20 cheaper then, which is more appealing. Not particularly bothered by the 5 year warranty as I dont plan on keeping it that long, probs 3 years or so. But will the Zotac have better cooling performance than the Inno x3? Also the measurements are for width (They call it height) all they say for width is that it takes up 2.5 slots

Gonna take the plunge with the Zotac I think, cooling is priority for me, and this card seems todo that pretty well. If its too big (I think it will fit) then I will just have to send it back!

I too have been looking at the Zotac but that blog post had thrown me.
Yeah it could be an isolated incident but that for me is not the issue. The fact remains the guy got a very poor level of service. His card may have been within parameters but it was by no means within normal day to day operational parameters.
It really was a poor display of customer service.

I've been sting by MSI refusing to take a faulty 970 fur RMA when I had the single fan max spin problem and the vendors idea of testing it was to run 3D Mark which didn't replicate the problem si they wouldn't take back either.
It was s nightmare and one that's left me very wary of bad customer service.
I'm thinking EVGA NAT be my port of call now if they truly are good customer service.

Watch out for this gen of EVGA's as well they have a lot of coil whine, Google EVGA GTX 1070 FTW coil whine.

So I got the card today, installation went fine, fits perfectly. Is about a 1cm gap between the card and my sound card though!

But anyway, wow the card is good! Makes zero noise upto 57oC, idles at around 37oC (My 290x would idle at around 50!). Played a match of overwatch, everything on high at 1440p, temps didnt go above 60oc would sit around 56oC or so, fan only came on at about 10% speed. My 290x would sound like a hoover and reach temps as high as 80 if the room was fairly warm!

Overall, a superb card! Thanks for the help everyone, would highly recommend to anyone looking to get a 1070!
