Which 1156 CPU?

I'm planning on buying a processor for my SKT1156 system tomorrow and could really do with some help choosing one.

My computer so far is:
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 Motherboard
4GB XMS3 DDR3 Ram
2 x 1TB Samsung F3's
nVidia 9800GT
OCZ 850W Power Supply
Fractal Design R2 Case

I can't afford the i7's so it's down to i3's or i5's but not sure which to get. Is the i5 760 worth the money or should I just go for an i3?

Uses would be web development, light video editing, light photoshop use, etc.

Any advice would be great.

For your uses the true quad core of the i5 760 will the best match IMHO, especially since you have already spent so much on the rest of your system.

This comparison shows how the i3 530 does again an i5 750 (slighly slower than the 760) in a range of applications.

Go for the quad. More and more programs are making use of mutiple cores. If you get the quad the PC will last a lot longer before you feel the need to upgrade.

I'm no director or editor but it seems that even 'light' video editing requires some oooomph !

My votes -

i3 530 overclocked to 4ghz+ for an amazing gaming machine on a budget.

quad core for everything else.

Certainly is, especially when you o/c it to 4.0GHz+ which is easy enough with decent cooling...

Go for the i5 760.

You may get by with a i3, but it wont be long before you will wish you'd got a quad.
