Ok so id like to get a new 120mm exhaust fan but i have no clue which one there are so many, the main things i would like are 1600-2000rpm, not that loud and a long life span, so if anyone has any suggestions please comment, thanks in advance :)

Look for Yate Loons, they can be found for less than £5.

Failing that Sharkoon SE 1000rpm for silence or 2000rpm for more air flow.

Sadly OcUK dont sell either, if you want to order from here get the Scythe or Noctua, lower the rpm the quiter they will be, 1600rpm should do the job nice.

I got a Yate Loon today, very quiet with good airflow. I had Xinruilian fans before - comparable, but in tests the Yate Loons come out on top.

Check out the Arctic Cooling fans. They are really quiet and also offer good performance. If I remember correctly they are on par with the Yate Loons.

If you want silence you cant beat the Noctua 800RPM, 8dBA!!! Only 35CFM though :( But it is perfectly silent unless you've got your ear next to the fan :)

EDIT: Sorry just reread your post and should probs have recomended the 1200RPM version, 17 dBA and 48CFM

Case fans are easier to select than fans for heatsinks, as a 10%-15% of diff on airflow wont make a massive difference.

Best go for a decent tradeoff between airflow and noise. 1200RPM Noctua, 1200RPM S-Flex, Sharkoon 1000 SE, or Arctic Fan 12L if you can find one.

Yate Loon, quiet, cheap, good airflow.

Silent Eagle 1000, good value at around £7.50 as you get rubber grommets etc. with it, very quiet but quite low air flow.

Noctua 1200rpm, about the same as the Yate Loon but overly expensive, maybe 2-3cfm more with lower air pressure.

1200RPM S-Flex, good fans but the motor makes a slight ticking noise.

Arctic Cooling, good fans but can only be used as an exhaust (not an issue here, clearly).

Any 120mm fan at 1600-2000rpm will be quite noisy, so I would go for something a bit slower.

i did a bit of research and found that custom pc did a labs test a little while back.

The best 120mm variable speed fan was the Zalman ZM-F3 in terms of airflow and noise.

I've got two in my box, one intake, the other exhaust and found that they cooled my system by an extra 6c at full pelt. They are quite loud at full speed though, but still cool my system better than my akasa amber silent 120mm.

You can probably find the labs test on www.custompc.co.uk

According to Gibbo the Sharkoon range is on its way to OCUK ;)

I'm sure he didn't mind me badgering him for them? Still these were rated by Extreme systems to be the best 120mm fans - Sharkoon SE 120mm 2000 "Golfball" - Expect a premium price but they are the best! - Apparently (disclaimer :D )

I've been badgering for a while too.... though i got mine somewhere else.

As to price, they SHOULD be around the Zalman ZM-F3 or the Xilence XPF120R in price if OcUK want to to be on par with other e-tailers that sell them.

With that price, and the performance they have, they should be an instant hit..... nearly 2 for the price of a Noctua or S-Flex!
