Which 1440p monitor do people recommend for gaming?

I will be running a 980ti and an i7 4790k

Don't want to go near the rog swifts due to too many rma horrors

Thanks

Would you like something with nice colours/contrast/blacks? i.e using a PLS or IPS scree such as,

YOUR BASKET
1 x Samsung 27D850D 27" Widescreen LED Professional/Gaming Slim Bezel Monitor - Black £359.99
1 x BenQ GW2765HT 27" Widescreen LED Gaming Flicker FREE Monitor - Black £319.99
1 x AOC Q2770PQU 27" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £299.99
Total : £1,004.09 (includes shipping : £20.10 Ex.VAT).

Or do you really want something dedicated to fast gaming and is 144Hz with a fast 1ms response time?

There is not much choice...

144hz is thin on the ground at 1440p...I'm in the same predicament

There is the Asus IPS 144hz freesync and the BENQ 144hx freesync...

Then there is the acer but many avoid due to worse QC than Asus

Out of all those I would pick the dell U2715H that you don't list :p

Not a lot of choice at 1440p and 144hz

Yes it is.

But 1080P and 24" is the most common and does have the advantage of all the game action being more centred in your field of vision (if that makes sense) so less moving your eyes/head to see whats happening at the edges of the screen.

Even the most advanced game consoles in the world still have to run games at less than 1080p so that proves how advanced it is :rolleyes:

I'm not sure if a 60Hz IPS is what you're after though but I have the Dell U2715H and it's pretty great to be honest.

can i ask why not the swift? Its a great monitor superior quality, havent had a single problem with mine. There are some RMA horrors but asus are generally good when it comes to RMA. Acer on the other hand is completely different, might aswell throw it away. But youd be pushing it at 144hz with a single 980ti unless you lower the settings at which you might aswell go 1080p.

The 980ti is good for 1440p 60hz but youd need SLI for 120 or 144hz. So maybe 1080p is the way to go if your wanting the single card, from what ive heard benq are good so maybe look into that. But id get the swift :) you wont look back.

All ive heard lately in the rog swift thread is people rma the monitor, getting replacements then having problems with them too im not going near a rog

like anything really, you could get any monitor and have similar problems. but as for choice there isnt much really. There are also many many people who love the swift, including myself and havent had a problem. As anything you dont hear from the people who are problem free only the few who have problems.

Other than that your stuck with choice. Either a 60hz 1440p or 120-144hz 1080p. At least with the swift it has G-sync so with your 980Ti you'd be getting 80-90+ frames on 1440p so can enjoy the higher frames.

i will just add my 10 cents worth,
i purchased the swift in october last year an amazing monitor but sadly to say it gave up on sunday screen is completely gone and now im sat with a 19'' by its side and no idea what to buy next, almost not sure if i can even be bothered to game anymore, fed up paying top money for poor quality.

i usually game every night and weekends about 40hrs a week for 8 months so i put the swift through its paces so maybe i worked it to death who knows lets see how many more fail in the future.

it is still under warranty but unfortunately i sold my old 27'' and used the swift box for shipping lol so not sure if i can return it without box.

i need some help to buy a new monitor from you guys/gals my requirements are for gaming only and as near to perfection as i can get i mostly play gta v and arma 2 not fussy on price would rather have quality. happy to upgrade gpus if necessary.
not sure even if swift was right for me as i game in 2 positions either sat up or reclined which meant the swift changing from dark to light. i may need ips.
would love to receive some input and help. thanks.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on the Dell U2715 to be a nice match for my incoming 980ti but I'm so tempted to try a U3415W.. but its a lot of extra coin.

Thats bad luck, id contact Asus anyway and explain the situation. you never know and even if your looking for another monitor you could sell the new one to fund it. But yeah if you sit in different positions id go for an IPS but one with as low response time as possible to keep it feeling quick.

Highly recommend the Dell Ultrasharps, I purchased a U2515 a few months ago and its a superb monitor, text is very sharp, the level of detail in anything you look at is amazing, and not to mention the great colours and contrast.
