Which 144hz monitor

Hi all

Hoping someone can help.

Background is im getting my eldest son his first gaming pc for Christmas and need a monitor. Likely build will include a Ryzen 7 2700 processor and a GeForce RTX 3070 GPU. I want to get a 144hz monitor, 27” screen and it will mainly be used for Gaming. I want to spend £200-250 and have 2 monitors I have found but have got lost in whether certain things are needed.

1) Samsung LC27JG52QQUXEN
Has the size and 144hz, however doesn’t have G-sync or FreeSync. It is a QHD monitor though

2) LG Ultragear 27GL650F
Has FreeSync but only HD resolution

Question is which one? The Samsung is a better deal £ wise, but is the lack of FreeSync an issue if using for gaming and pairing with the GPU above. Feature wise is QHD and no FreeSync better than HD and FreeSync?

I would get the free sync one as long as it’s gsync compatible. Or get an LG qhd one if you can find one, or an acer nitro qhd one.

I assume you only want 1080p?

Not specifically, more what’s the best I can get for the budget. Seems like you can get 1440p with no sync mode or 1080p with. Just didn’t know what feature is worth sacrificing but as my son will be playing fast moving games a few people have said things like g-sync will be a better function to go for

if you can find one on offer the lg32gk650f is a good monitor and works fine with gsync and is 1440p and 144hz.
