I've currently got a Dell 2001FP but have been looking for a better monitor and I've seen these 2:

Samsung SM206BW-Link
LG L203WT-Link

I've seen the post about the SM226BW and it seems pretty good. Anyone have any thoughts about how the LG comapres to the Samsung and which one to go for??
Cheers.

The monitors you list there are fine (afaik) but are based on TN film LCD technology so only have 6bit colour. They are very fast but if you are concerned about colour accuracy at all you might just prefer one of the cheaper 8bit colour LCDs such as

Belinea 102035 - revew at http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/review-belinea-102035w.html

Acer AL2051W or
or
Viewsonic VX2025WM - review at http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/review-viewsonic-vx2025wm.html

I have a Viewsonic and highly recommend it for colour quality, plus lack of ghosting in games or movies. See mine at http://www.jones5.com/samview.jpg

All these monitors at slightly more expensive than those you suggest, but in my opinion are worth the extra.

Just my 2p.

Not true. There are 8-bit TN screens, of which the Samsung is one, not sure about the other 2. If the specs say '16.7 Million colors', it's 8-bit.

Thanks for the suggestions but I dont think they look as nice as the Samsung or the LG. I must admit I am going for asthetics as well as a good panel that supports HDCP.
So which one do I go for out of Samsung, LG or Dell??

I'd recommend the latest 2007wfp over an e-series. From what I was reading before I bought mine, the e-series were a lot more subjective and tended to be a bit more problematic.

The 2007wfp isnt the fastest screen, but its definately very nice, has good colour reproduction (its not a 6bit screen), and as its 20" with the same res as the 22" models available, the image is sharper, which was a big push for me as a gamer (that and it has 1:1 pixel mapping built in) :)

Dont think it supports HDCP/HDMI though :(

The Dell 22" Monitor is on the edge of my budget so the 2007WFP is a bit more than that but I might have to take the Dell out of the equation altoegther to try and keep costs down so I think it will have to be between the Samsung or LG.
Inicidentally the 2007WFP DVI does support HDCP.

Ahh even better then, although I understand the budget issue :(

If you have the budget though its worth it, by all accounts the colour accuracy and performance of the 2007WFP is better, and the screen is perhaps faster than the 16ms time quoted, the same panel is rated 8ms elsewhere :)

Sorry if I misleaded on HDCP, its not a feature I use, so I never really paid much attention to it, and never it waved in my face anywhere :D

Cheers for the advice but Samsung or LG, Dells out the picture now and I think the Samsung and LG both look better than the Dell except for the stands.

I can understand why, the e-series arent amazing, the picture of the 2007wfp is very good though :)

Do you work for Dell or something, your trying your hardest to sell me the 2007WFP. Its out of range of me budget so my choice is the Samsung or the LG.

Nope, I dont, Im saying the e series is pap, would I say that if I was trying to sell Dell :D I merely said it'd be worth it if the budget turned up, although I understand it most likely wont. Samsungs are usually pretty nice, my mate has one :)

Saying that I wont comment any more if all you're going to do is turn insulting or accusing, when i simply replied to your comment 'I think the Samsung and LG both look better than the Dell except for the stands', to which I replied that yes the e series isnt amazing, the 2007 is much better, but we've already established its out of your budget. I dont work for Dell, I commonly denounce the desktop systems, I was simply trying to give my own perspective, as i was looking at similar monitors a month ago.

Good luck trying to find the monitor that suits you :)

Mate I'm not accusing or anything, I simply said a couple of posts ago the Dell's were out.
Anyway cheers for the advice all the same.
