Which 20" widescreen display?

Agghhh!!!! After all my previous twitterings on 24"/22" advantages I think I'm going down the 20" route!! The 24" is just to expensive and I've been persuaded by the "same resolution for only a 2" gain (with MAYBE a perceptible sharpness issue) argument to finally go for a 20" model.

I THINK from my research the two most recommended at the moment are the Dell 2007WFP and the Viewsonic VX2025wm - with maybe a Samsung and NEC in there to spice things up occasionally.

So - the age old question, been asked 1000 times I'm sure, but in the simplest possible terms, what would be YOUR preference from the above (or another I've forgotten if you think it's superior) and WHY do you prefer this one?

Budget is about £300 max.

Cheers.

Once again, I'm really grateful for all the advice and support here on the forum.

You'll be pleased to hear that I've finally stopped dithering and taken the plunge and ordered a VX2025 - but it really was a close one with the Dell2007.

I think I was put off the NEC as it was a tad dearer, but also because of the "you'll either love the glossy screen or hate it" reviews. I have no experience of either glossy or matt LCD (coming straight from a CRT) but thought I'd prefer the matt screen.

So..... it has yet to arrive and I am yet to see it in action, but would any of you VX2025 owners out there have any tips for optimal colour/brightness/contrast settings when I set it up? I know this will largely be a matter of taste, but I'm sure there may be some obvious things to tweak that will improve the "out of the box" settings that would be agreeable to virtually everyone.

Todge - as I still haven't laid eyes on my new screen yet, I can only really regurgitate things I haveb gleaned from my studies on these forums and elsewhere....

Your max. resultion when shifting to a 20" would rise to 1680 X 1050 (higher than you have now) and the issue of "to-widescreen-or-not-to-widescreen" (particularly at 20" and above as 19" WS was severely dissed somewhere I seem to recall) seems to be a resounding "definitely go for it" whether your predilection is for gaming, movies, or both.

Ergo, "is it worth it" = Yup.

One more point - the 19" vx922 would still be maxed out at 1280x1024 so I would say that option is maybe not worth upgrading to from your current display/s.
