Which 2070 Super to buy?

Hi

I am in the process of specing a new build, I think that the 2070 Super is the card to get but am a little confused by the options. Prices vary from £480-650, some have 2 fans, some have 3? It looks like the clocks are slightly different across the options. I've seen Gigabyte recommended previously?

Do you have any recommendations?

On another point is there any reason to consider a 5700xt? Cheaper? Although no ray tracing and higher power consumption?

Thanks

The 2070S is on average 10% faster then the 5700xt but take a look at the games you play as in some the 5700xt does win.

With the new consoles being based on Navi there's possibility the 5700xt will leap over the 2070S in newer games designed for the new consoles.

Ray tracing is pointless imo you don't stop and look at at the game and think it's pretty I've tried day tracing on a gtx 1080 at 1080p it played SOTTR okay but the graphics just didn't wow me.

If it was me and I could get a 5700xt £100 or ore cheaper than the 2070 I'd consider that but then the two free games you get with the 2070 would you play them/buy them? If so that saves you £60 and the different between the two comes down to £40-£50 which is the most I'd pay extra for the 2070s just due to it being the faster card as of today

Just upgraded from a 3 year old EVGA GtX980 TI to a EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC which arrived last sunday very impressed with it so far, its the twin fan version which takes up 3 spare slots in my pc case.

The card runs quiet & temperatures never go above 80 degrees when under load.

Not really had a chance to put it through its paces yet still downloading games for it via steam as I upgraded my pc a few weeks ago.

Cheers all

I have a 2070S fe it’s great, highly recommended but it’s vaporware.

I would not spend more than £499 on any 2070S.

if you need a card right now i would just buy the cheapest kfa from ocuk and be done.

If not i would wait a week or two to see what the 5700XT custom cards bring.

I got the MSi 2070 Super Gaming X-Trio in my new rig, cracker of a card.
Ditto, arrived last week and upgraded from a pair of 980ti in SLI.

I was going to order a Zotac one as it was cheap and they have a 5yr warranty but it sold just as I was about to order, I've had MSI Gaming gpus and boards for about 6 years and always been impressed with the quality and zero issues.

Is the Super series of RTX cards still binned by Nvidia.?
I want to buy the cheapest 2070 Super and watercool it but if they are binned like before then I'll pass.

don’t know if mine is binned but cooler is as good as 1080 evga classified for £200 less whilst being almost as quick as my 1080ti hof...under water.

I remember reading that Nvidia have dropped this practice for the Super range.

2070S burns more power than the 5700XT, and RT is atrocious on the 2070S.
If you can wait 8 days get one 5700XT with custom cooler.

I wouldn't bother with RT until its actually worth it, current generation cards and games just don't offer a good enough reason to justify it. Even Nvidia said they don't expect RT to become mainstream until at least 2022/23.

I bought an ASUS 2070s ROG OC - definitely overkill but that £270 I will get back from the promo makes it a decent price for me. Just waiting on stock as the entire world seems sold out right now!

It's not atrocious, it's the same as on a 2080Ti just not as fast, it's not a slide show.
