Sorry to ask what might probably be the same question but I've looked through quite a few pages back and can't come to any conclusion.

Am looking for a decent 22" monitor for video work and some game play so which one(s) do you guys recommend?

The best is

LENOVO cause it's S-PVA

SAMSUNG, HP and LG are TN......both very good ones.....don't know what will you use LCD for?

Well, I wouldn't necessarily be swayed by a panel just because it's S-PVA. I've used some brands of monitors using S-PVA panels at work that were terrible, and you will probably know there is much more to making a decent monitor than just the panel. There are the electronics, and the power supply to name but two...

For most single users of a pc, viewing angles are not really an issue as how often do you use your pc at more than 170 degrees left or right or up or down from the plane of the monitor?

A decent TN panel is just as good as an average PVA one IMO, and it's more important that it's calibrated correctly. At work I use a gorgeous 24" PVA panelled HP, but then it should be good at the price!

I've currently got two Samsung SM 2232 BW's, using 22" TN panels made by Samsung (all UK 2232's are Samsung panels), and I can't fault them. No backlight bleed, no dead pixels, and an excellent punchy and vibrant display. I did have a noisy power supply on one of them at anything less than 100% brightness, but that was exchanged by the store. They're a good value panel, very white whites and deep blacks, and no 'ghosting'.

You the OP really need to sit down in front of any monitors on your shortlist if possible to see if you like them. Even better if you can see them side by side in a shop or similar. What I like might not be what you like, and vice versa, but if I was forced to recommend anything it would be the SM2232, which for the cash is brilliant IMO.
