Well as the above really, i want a new monitor as my computer is to good for my current monitor.

I have the below currently on my 19" Samsung SM 913n.

E6600 C2D
4gig ram
8800gtx 768mb

Basically looking for a 24" between £350 and £400 maybe a little more for playing fps and mmo's on and doing a bit of designing on in my spare time.

I have mainly been looking at the samsung and dell monitors, as my current samsung has done me well the past 2-3 years and good reviews from both.

The Digimate one OcUK are selling for £226ish at the moment's fairly damn good, otherwise, a NEC or Dell with a S-IPS panel's your best bet :).

Thanks for the quick answer, so what's wrong with the old Sammy's then? I see you've not mentioned any off them at all.

I've checked the Digimate one and it seems to be pretty good, im defiently looking at that now aswell. I just want to make the right choice, as i know i did with this current monitor it's served me well and had no problems at all with it.

Hmmm, not sure i'd touch a digimate. I'm sure it's an ok monitor, but they look a bit cheap and plasticky to me. Depends on how much you're happy spending to be honest. With £400 to spend, i'd go for either the BenQ or the Dell.

That was one of the reasons for not including it in my first post. I mean im open to anything, but i'd rather get something which i will last and is of good quality than something i won't be happy with. I must admit though it looks a good screen for the price.

Samsung do VA panels (or TN if you're unlucky), LG are the only company afaik who make S-IPS panels (which are the best you can get), if you can find something with one in your price range, it's what you want, otherwise, PVA. :)

I thought LG had a panel lottery though and you could end up with any one of them.

Well after looking around and trying to find out which i wanted, i've still not come to a conclusion. I'm looking to spend £450 max, i first thought of the Samsung but i've read it's not as good as the dell 2407 but then again the newer HC doesn't compare much to it's predocessor in terms of gaming it seems.

I didn't think it would be so hard to choose a monitor, it seems it is as im back to square one looking around. I also read the BenQ to be another good one, but that's only from a few sources.

I was going to get the Dell 2407, until I read of the ghosting issues, and now my list is down to the Benq. Seems the only 24" that's 'nearly' up to scratch. And that's my problem, none of the 22 or 24" monitors seem to be really good. There's plenty that are average but none that really shine.

I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm going to end up with a Dell 2007 until somebody starts making decent 24's. (FWIW I'm using a five year old Eizo L565 and it's still head and shoulders above other panels that I've seen recently.)

the ocuk value is suposed to be a top monitor with a slightly less attractive bevel than the dells. but its pva panels so its identical to the dell's in terms of screen performance. buy 2 instead ;)

its better than a 2405 i can tell you that much. better color reproduction and MUCH better input lag. ive seen this myself against my friend 2405 and another member posted in the thread with his 2405 and l2442w side by side - his digimate was better:)

Interesting, I wonder if I could sell my 2405 to my bro, £250 should do it ;)
