Hey guys, so I have a Corsair 780T case and a Noctua NH-D14 air cooler at the moment, for a couple of reasons (one being I want to get EVGA Hybrid coolers for my 980's and one of the fans/sinks will be going on the back exhaust and currently the heat from the CPU is going to there) I'd like to move to a AIO liquid cooler instead but I have no idea what the best one is at the moment.

It has to be a 240mm and I hope to be able to put the second EVGA Hybrid in the third top front fan area, maybe. :)

I'm not sure why so much would be spent on multiple AIO coolers? When you get to a point where it's £200+ in 2/3 individual units, surely it's time to look at a better performing custom loop?

Not really

H100i £90
H55 £30
Gpu brackets £20

Custom loop
£110 for res and pump
£50 cpu block
£80 gpu block
£50 rad probably need 2
£10 tubing
£30 fittings
£10 fluid
£40 fans

My 3 aios and brackets cost me £190 was pricing a full custom loop the other day and it was well over £500

You aren't really comparing like for like there though are you?

Let's start here as this is...about the equivalent of a H100i:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-082-TL&groupid=962&catid=1532

So that's £110 for basically everything.

Add another same sized radiator for £28, 2 more fan for another £15ish, more tubing another £2-3, GPU block (a simple one like the head of an AIO, OcUK don't really sell them any more but it's... pretty much a CPU block adapted to fit) about £20.

I make that £176.
Even if we round it up to £200, it's going to fairly significantly out perform AIO setups.

AIO is waaaaaaay simpler and tidier, no contest. The cheap end of custom will be on par/slightly better for... 10% additional cash.

We can argue on price, better rads/pump/tubing/fans/etc obviously exist but it's definitely more towards the low end of custom to match AIO.

Teh ok it may not be £500 for the cheapest but that pump wont go through 2 gpus, cpu and 2 rads would need to be better.

Also the generic gpu blocks are £50 each which is more than a h55 and bracket on its own.

Just playing devils advocate. Pricing up a decent loop myself atm and its about £430 using fans i have atm.

I'd +1 a Corsair cooler, most likely the H100i GTX - It's pretty much the best around at the moment, but also because many Corsair cases tend to be designed for them. Other brands can be a little problematic or at least limited on fitting options.

My 3 aios and brackets cost me £190 was pricing a full custom loop the other day and it was well over £500
Mine was like that - I've managed to get it down to £380 so far, through a bit of judicious consideration.

We can argue on price, better rads/pump/tubing/fans/etc obviously exist but it's definitely more towards the low end of custom to match AIO.
The added advantages of an AIO are the fact that it's sealed and it has a warranty. No such thing with a w/c loop.

Thanks guys, can you tell me what the difference is between the Corsair GT and GTX coolers? Also does anyone know how long the tubes are on the EVGA Hybrid? Thanks again.

IMO a lot comes down to the individual - some people love to spend time planning and setting up a custom loop, even maybe going as far as putting their own spin on it/unique touches, etc. personally though I like dabbling with a lot of tech when it comes to watercooling I'd rather bung a couple of AIOs in there and be done with it.

"GT" designator means improve performance over the non-i and i models.

"GTX" designator means that the cooler has a replaceable colored inserts on the side of the rad and top of the pump cap for aesthetic reasons, otherwise performance is the same as the GT version.

I thought the GT models had the replaceable inserts as well? The H110i GT I have here have removable inserts at the very least. As far as the naming goes, I got a different story from Prof Cao but I don't think I can say it in public :D

GTX model will have the changeable pump insert, with the exception of H110i GT, the fact that you can actually change it, like what you currently have. It should have been GTX to begin with, but it was just too late for us to add the "X" at the end when we launched it. Moving forward, all coolers that will have GTX suffix is an indication that the cooler will have a changeable pump insert.

Prof Cao is correct, but probably didn't explain to you why the H110i GT doesn't have the "X" at the end.
