The time has finally come for my 226BW and I am looking to replace it with something a bit larger.

While I have been extremely happy with my sammy I have recently moved house and now require a PC screen which I can use to watch movies and hook up to my PS3/XBox as well.

I have been looking at 3 screens

Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS 27"
Hanns.G HZ281HPB 27.5"
Hazro HZ27WA 10-Bit 27"

But unable to choose between the three.

The Hanns.G looks to be a good all rounder but reviews indicate problems with backlinghting?

The Iiyama looks like an excellent screen for the money and is also native res for PS3/XBox. Im leaning more towards this screen but not sure if viewing from approx 10 feet will be an issue due to viewing angles?

The wildcard is the Hazro. It looks like a VERY nice screen for the money but is at the very top end of my budget. A little worried by the reports of dead pixels and dust inside the glass especially when it is almost twice the price of the other two not to mention Hazro seem to have dropped off the face of the earth in the last week or so... If I got a good one however would it be twice as good as the other screens?

I want a great looking monitor that is a quality bit of kit. Im willing to spend a bit of money if it is worth the outlay. Anyone able to reccomend one screen over the others? Or is there anything else on the horizon which I am better off waiting for? (Next month or two)

I would go for the Hanns-g because its the biggest and i have it :P well a older version. I have had mine nearly 3 years now no dead pixels or anything. I had a problem with the screen flickering. I contacted them they picked it up repaired it and brought it back within the space of a week. Customer service was really good and friendly.

Its great for pc gaming and i use it for my ps3 as well with no problems.

The hazro looks a decent monitor but to run it at 2560x1440 would take a rig better then yours (assuming thats the rig you plan to use in your sig) Also it has a high responce time which i belive is bad for gaming.

I have been running my monitor on a rig a lot like yours same cpu and mobo ram (but i have a 480 gtx) while i get my new build and it struggles to run games at 1920x1200 so you will really struggle with 2560x1440.

Ahh I meant to update my sig ages ago. Have done so now and I am assuming that it should handle the res ok with a 6970?

A 6970 should run that resolution no problem at all!

I was actually running a GTX295 for a long time at 2560x1600 which was fine for some older games. Now I've run a 6950 at the same resolution with no problems, but wanted a little extra FPS so crossfired with another.

What ever monitor you choose i think u will be happy with i came from a lg 1680x1050 and it was a huge upgrade.

Not only the better graphics from the higher res but the fact it takes up all of your eye line and gets you so engrossed in the game.

I have the iiyama E2710 HDS and really like it. Only complaint would be two very small patches with backlight bleed where it looks like screen fixed to frame too tightly. Otherwise, lovely picture and good response.

Other half has HannsG 27.5" which was mine before, and had no complaints with that. The only reason I went with the iiyama, was I didn't want my console games output stretched to fill the screen

I use the Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS 27" with my PC (driving it with a 5970) and Xbox 360. I use it for general web/work/stuff as well as gaming and am very happy with it. For the price I think it's oustanding.

What is the finish like on the Iiyama? Is it a gloss or matt bezel? Also is there a harsh anti glare coating on the screen? I'm leaning more and more towards the Iiyama the upshot is if I buy this there is money left over for an ssd... Decisions decisions !

XBOX/PS3 isnt compatible with 1920*1200 since the XBOX/PS3 material are 16:9.

So buy Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS 27" if those are your choices.

There are some new Samsung monitors out soon, SA850 and SA950, look them up. I'm waiting for them and look to be pretty good.

They look to be worth waiting for, especially the SA950. I doubt they will be cheap though.

Tempted to move up from my current 24" though.

Iiyama is a matt bezel and matt anti glare screen, which was essential for me as I use it in a bright room and I rellay don't want to spend the day looking at myself :)

Just to correct you, they are compatible. I have my PC, PS3 and XBOX360 all hooked up to my 1920*1200 24" Monitor, the PS3 and XBOX360 just has a slight vertical stretch to fill the screen. I don't even notice it personally.

Hmm after searching through PCM2's website I think I may well wait for the Samsung SA850. Just annoying not knowing how long I will have to wait!

This may or may not help but I have a iiyama Prolite E2710HDS which is also a 27" 1080p screen, I do not know the differences between mine and the one you posted up there but i am very pleased with mine and would recommend it strongly.

The image is crisp and response time is good. Built in speakers are nothing to complain about either although they do lack a bit of depth with bass etc, but sound quality even when going up loud is pretty good.

All the best with your choice

You think they will be worth the wait?

Also are they likely to have a native HDMI port on them?

I very much hope they will be worth the wait. Really they are designed as out and out PC monitors and I think they will feature DisplayPort, USB and multiple DVI inputs but not HDMI.
