A bit complicated, this. I bought an NEC 24WMGX3 for my gaming rig a couple of weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. Then, I persuaded myself to go for a Dell 3008WFP for the "sofa rig", mostly for DVDs and a little bit of gaming, maybe a bit of cable TV or such in the future (never owned a telly).

Trouble is, it arrived smashed. THe RMA has now finally gone through, but OcUK are out of stock again - these Dells seem to arrive in small numbers then fly out of the door pronto. Given that I'm really happy with the NEC 24, I'm seriously tempted to drop some more cash and get the NEC 3090WQXi instead... teetering on the edge on this, so to speak. Fewer inputs and stuff, but a classier monitor altogether.

What would you do, dear reader, if the cash wasn't an issue?

The main reason to spend the money on a 30" monitor is the ultra-high resolution (2560x1600). If you're using it as a 'sofa rig', rather than as a desktop, then you won't really use any higher than 1920*1080, so might be better served going for something like a high quality 42" LCD-TV. If that's too big, you could look at a 36" 1080p TV of some kind.

If cash wasn't an issue, I would have the 30" NEC as my desktop monitor, and a nice 40"+ LCD-TV with the 'sofa-rig'. I would use the 24" NEC (which is only a VA panel without extended gamut by the way) as a second desktop monitor.

Hmm, good point, though my desk is way too small for 24 + 30. I'll chew on the idea for a while.

If you're happy with the 24", then just keep it and buy a nice big LCD-TV for your living room.

A 30" monitor would have a text size which would be difficult to read from a distance anyway, since the dot pitch is quite small.

Am tempted to buy the Hazro 3007 having read all the posts and am impressed:cool: however i have come across a Dell 3008 for the same money with a slightly better speck only 8 months old with a couple of years remaining Warrantie is there any reviews regarding 3008 screen to the 3007 am going to buy this week is there any problems with Dells new model or is it that they far to expensive if i make up my mind i will probably order tonight thanks .. all i can say is the 3007 dell panel is almost the same as the hazro 30" panel only hazro picked better grades and so on and thats why nec have the best screen as they got first dips on highest grades.

i have 2 x hazro 30" using 3007 panel and found it slight better than the dell 3007-hc panel.

in answer to the question the dell 3007-hc is a single dvi output screen so dont expect to be able to connect anything other than the computer and same runs true for the hazro 30" 3007 model.

the 3007 variant dell/hazro have very low lag which is verrrry good if your into games and hazros have much better blacks maybe due to better backlight control and also have a lower reported panel problems than dells.
(dont confuse the problems with the hazro 24/26 models as the 30" is free of these issues)

now the 3008 dell has loads and loads of connections so if that what you after its great but on the down side it masses of lag due to the multitude of scalers and output connections and LG havent done a good manufacturing job on the panels so there have been loads of return and return and returns :) sometime 3-4 times with wierd bad pixels in small/large clusters and also some screens have strange patterns appearing.

its your choice really .

hazro 3007 model ...All aluminium casing...backlight control..slightly better panel than dells...good blacks..very low lag so great for games...92% gammut..has only one dvi connection so purely pc monitor... uses 110w (3 Years On-Site Swap-Out with Hazro 2nd & 3rd year RTB)

hazro 3008 model ... All aluminium finished casing..no news on panel quality yet....

dell 3007wfp-hc model .... good screen for gaming but lacks connections but swallows 177watts of power with its hubs.. 92% gammut.. has twinkling effect due to over applying Hard coating(3H), Anti-glare treatment...(dell has a bad pixel policy if you pay extra and 3 years warranty if still available/valid)

dell 3008wfp model...loads of connection with very nice casing .. 117% high gammut so expect strong colours without calibration... very bad lag.. chances of a dodgy screen and going through the returns procedure more than once.. some reports of over applied Hard coating(3H), Anti-glare treatment... (4 year warrany) (try and get the A02 version)

all the above is based on my opinion and what i have heard and experienced
if anyone wants to add by all means.

Thing is with the 3007 you get the Dell perfect pixel guarantee (or whatever it's now called) which guarantees you no dead pixels. Hazro only offer normal ISO tolerances (so you can have 6 dead pixels on a 30" monitor before it will be taken back as faulty.
