I'l like one with a full size enter key and logical key placement, also SSD if it goes towards making it feel 'snappier' and increasing battery life.

I've just bought an asus aspire one (120gb hdd, 1gb ram) for £244. Got rid of the linpus linux that comes with it and stuck vista sp1 on it. It runs really well with very little lag, and surprisingly good memory/cpu usage with sidebar removed and a bit of optimisation. Runs divx really well and even some HD stuff, along with most emulators and i've even got halflife and return to wolfenstein running on it perfectly. The thing feels really well made with a really nice keyboard and screen. Battery life is cack (you can get a 6 cell for about £50), but wlan is very good with decent reception. There is also a decent little app to turn off the fan until it reaches whatever temperature you set it to, which improves battery life quite a bit and makes it silent 99% of the time. Overall i'm very impressed and next to my first choice (msi wind) I would say these are the number one choice on the market atm.

^ seems like a bargain for the price.

I had an eee 701 which was great so naturally felt more inclined to stick to asus. I got an eee 1000H for £335, Win XP Home SP3, 80GB HDD, 1GB ram (upgraded to 2GB) and I really don't have a bad thing to say about it. The screen size 10" is perfect, emulators and the few games I have tried run great, the battery life is brilliant, a hell of a lot better then it was on the 701, the build quality is very good, it also comes with a case which the previous 701 didn't.

The keyboard is a massive improvement aswel over the 701, if you can pick one up for a decent price I don't think you will regret buying the asus :)

I'm in the same boat, I think I prefer the MSI Wind over the other competitors, but ideally I'd like to swap the HDD for a SSD, is that possible?

The two problems with the Wind/Aspire are the mechanical drive and not so good battery life.

Oooops just realised, I said "Asus" aspire one, what I meant to say was "Acer" aspire one, i'm a dumbass lol.

I just got a Wind for the GF just for the reason that it was in stock in pink :)

Chose it over some others as it had a normal 80gb scorpio disk rather than SSD so at least it could be used for photos etc..

It's really nicely put together, 1GB RAM, WinXP home... speakers are very tinny so got some USB powered logitech ones which make it usable for movies / iplayer / music.

Only thing I don't like is these atom CPUs chug abit when bogged down with multitasking like copying from network while surfing, but for single tasks they are snappy enough...

Gonna get one myself in future, not sure which one but maybe a wind (has 10" screen rather than 9 like acer one), will then chuck a 500gb disk in and try and shoehorn some mac air speakers into it along with extra GB of ram.....
