Basically, which brand? I've only used MSI/Gigabyte so far in the past of previous generation nvidia GPU's and found both to have loud coil whine so I'm wondering what to chose next, what is generally the "best" brand to go for nvidia gpu's for cooling and generally not so much coil whine?

The Asus was the best reviewed over all.

Either the OC or the non OC edition.

Although the Gigabyte Eagle is a good card also.

This is going off of the reviews I read during the first few weeks of launch.

Probably easier to just try and get a 6800 and put a green sticker on it, if you can't make it fake it.

I ordered a tuf oc about a week after launch, probably won't see it til January.

Go watch the Hardware Unboxed reviews on YouTube. They compare each cooler for noise, heat and performance and are very thorough. Depending upon your case dimensions the Asus Tuf gaming will be the best at close to MSRP and the EVGA FTW3 / ASUS Strix seem like the best so far at higher price tier. The MSI high end and low end cards were worse than rivals despite being some of the better cards of the RTX 2000 series

guess it is a matter of opinion. I don't think it is worth the extra money over the ASUS TUF but apparently it is a very good high end model

Asus Strix every time, the rest have cut corners and there are a lt of reviews on you tube showing why

FE. Received mine Monday. Very impressed. Anyone moving from a 10 series or especially earlier card will be blown away. It's a massive improvement even over my 2080.
No coil whine for me but had one issue earlier today which I'll put down to drivers - my displays both turned off. After rebooting the second one only came back on after I switched it off and on again :). It's a very old display now so wouldn't be surprised if that caused it, not the drivers, as it has been a little temperamental before.

Really is a great card.

A few negatives for me;

- The 12 pin splitter is god awful
- Runs a little hot, this can easily be sorted by undervolting or adjusting the fan profile

Other than those points its the best looking 3080 and arguably the best value £ per performance card you can buy right now.
