It took me ages to decide.
I kept waiting for the Hazro to be updated but in the end decided to go for the
3008WFP.
With version A02 I could not be more pleased.

I know you want to hear about other 30" monitors but until Hazro release an update with a corresponding price you cannot beat the Dell for value.

only thing i dont like about hazro it has No OSD that correct? i wont be using, a caiblrator so need to use presets with mod to brightness etc.

i will be using OSX 3/4 of the time also.

If I was spending the kind of money for a 30" display I'd push the boat out and get an NEC LCD3090WQXi or an Eizo SX3031W, it's a good bit more but if I was spending that much on a screen I'd want the very best...

well i havent really got a budget atm as i was going to buy 2 but only getting 1 for now to test if i need two nec you say ill have quick look

I don't think you can compare the Hazro and Dell to those monitors as there in a different league price wise.

No, but if you're going to shell out for the 30" Dell and can afford to then I think you'd be silly not to pay the extra for the better quality screens. I presume you're not using a 30" screen for gaming, so quality likely matters...

Thats like saying if your going to shell out for a 2408WFP you might as well shell out for a 3008WFP.

Not really, a 2408 is quite affordably these days, a 3008 (or any 30") isn't really, it's the equivilent of what most people would spend on a computer. So if you have that kind of cash to shell out on a monitor I'd say (it's opinion remember) that it's worth shelling out a little extra for the very best.

To use an analogy, the difference between a £30k car and a £50k car is huge, but if you can afford the £50k car surely you're tempted to find the extra for the £60k version which is the very best?

Sure the 3008W isn't a bad screen, it'll likely do what he wants fine, I'd just buy the very best available if I was spending £1000+ on a screen.

I haven't played games on a 30" screen myself, so I can't comment but do you have the horsepower to run them at that res. I'd be very tempted to buy 2x 24" panels instead, more useful for multitasking, more useful for some apps, you could just run a game on one screen and it'd be cheaper...

Why buy a Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP 24 for £339.99 when you can buy a Samsung SyncMaster XL24 for £999.99. If you have £400 to spend you should want the best. Ya, that makes real sense!

You cannot use one analogy for people spending £400 and a completely different analogy for people spending £1,000.

People who have £1,000 to spend have the same budget contraints as people who have £500 to spend.

I disagree, spending £400 on a monitor and £1000 on a monitor are completely different things. £400 is a reasonable amount whereas £1000 is a big luxury, so different analogies are perfectly sensible.

Either way, you obviously disagree, you've noted that and I can't say I much care, so lets not continue as it doesn't help the OP.

£1000 is a reasonable amount for some people. Again the arguement makes no sense.

I love it when someone wants to have the last word by taking the high ground and thinking of others.

£3600 Worth of equipment. the reason for getting a new mointor was one 22inch is to not enough real estate & whats the point buying a £3600 PC with a £220 Monitor? total wasteful.

i orignally looked at 2x24inch but i know in time i wish and will get a 30inch. if 30inch is not enough space im planning to get another.

I'm not an expert but a single 8800 might stuggle with a 30" display. Nice setup though, I'll say one more time I would look at a more expensive screen if you're going to spend £3700. The dell will do you fine though...

I'm using a 8800GT and my 30" runs just fine, no complaints, but then I only use it for 3D work. Running games on it maybe a completely different story.

I've got a 3007, which I've had running with a 7800gt and a hd4850. Aoe3, css and hl2 should be ok on the 8800, but crysis will struggle (but that's the story for most cards anyway :) )

Not going to be any good to play games at full res, but in osx you wont need to anyway. Is this also going to be a dual boot for games? If so Id see what else you can cram in there, bearing in mind a standard card wont work.

a standard card will work but will only work when booted into Windows, a lot of the Mac Pro users use 2x3870 in xfire. (Mac/PC) edition

i could put in a GTX280 but only would be able to boot Win. im waiting on the 4870x2 for Mac/PC So i can have 1 card that does great in both.

I will dualbooting just for games yes, i understand a 8800GT will not push great FPS at that res, but for the most part 99% of my gaming will be CSS which is very light on Graphics card due to physics in on the cpu, so should be ok for the most part. but around 90% of my time will be spent in OSX Creating Developing for the Iphone,UNIX programs

any more q's :)
