XR3501
Pro
Better blacks.
Better contrast.
As a result I prefer watching films etc. on it.
The extra inch is noticeable even over the 34" Acer, didn't expect that.
More curve perfect for my race sim setup which it serves.
I've not noticed the lack of sync due to the 2560x1080 res and sensible game settings. No tearing.
Cons
Colours slightly flatter and earthy compare to the IPS - VA trait I've seen before.
Panel not quite as consistent as the Acer.
Slight smear when fast panning so doesn't like motion blur much.
It's not a true 144Hz panel as advertised. lots of overshoot noticeable as a result. Perfectly fine at 120Hz though.
X34
Pros
More vibrant colours.
Sharper graphics due to the higher res.
Much faster panel even at "only" 100Hz compared to the XR3501
G-Sync allows playable higher settings than maybe possible without.
Cons
Not many but it has BLB in the top corners
Blacks/Contrast not as good in direct comparison to the VA panel
Those damn back lights not coming on from sleep occasionally!
I bought the BenQ Xr3501 on a whim because it was B grade so 48% off retail. Glad I did as it's still a great gaming monitor and perfect for my sim setup. If I had to choose though then the Acer easily wins for all round ability. It was 3 x the cost of the BenQ though so it should!
