Following on from my other thread I am looking for a nice new telly, and have settled for 37" due to the size of the room (and the tv being physically the same size as the 28" CRT it replaces so I can get away with that).

Now a lot of people rave about the Panasonic 37X10, which seems like a good set for the price but I have noticed that the Toshiba 37XV635 is available for a similar price (Toshiba cashback), which should I go for?

I use the TV for:

DVDs - 2-4hrs a week.
HD Viewing - 2-3hrs a week.
SD Viewing - 5-10hrs a week.
Gaming - 5-10hrs a week.

In the future (next April) I should be getting Sky HD.

Now the Tosh should be better for HD + PC Stuff (which I do rarely), but the Panny will be better at the SD stuff.

Does anyone have the Tosh and know how much the gulf is between the Panny Plasma and the LCD with regards to the SD and HD material? Is there a Plasma for not much more that would be better for HD and SD?

Thank you all for your help.

My advice would be this, if you think you need a 37 then you should buy a 42 lol.

Almost everyone I know wishes they bought the next size up after about a week.

Not familiar with the Tosh but the Panny is really good. The internal speakers are excellent too.

Thanks but internal speakers are not a big issue - I use my 5.1 system with my tv most of the time.

I already took that advice, I thought I needed a 32"!

37 is a 4-pot and a 37 is a nice V6 :p

The panasonic plasma is a good choice for you as you have quite general use for your set with no massive bias to one activity.

But get the 42, it's a fact that tvs shrink in the first few months.

Right, I went looking at tvs and have come back confused.

The best picture I saw today was a toss up between a Samsung 42" LED TV and a Panasonic 42" Plasma, both looked fantastic.

The first shop I went in had the Tosh which looked okish - they were running Spiderman on Blu-ray, but there was obviously a problem with the distribution system they used because the image quality on the tvs looked poor.

The next shop had the Tosh but not the panny, unfortunatly they didn't have anything showing but a static screen and were too busy to do anything about it.

Next shop had the Panny and the Tosh next to each other! Alas they were showing an aerial feed - not even freeview! Unsuprisingly they both looked cack. This is when I saw the 42" Panny plasma which looked stunning.

Last shop again had the Tosh and Panny next to each other both showing Sky Sports news, picture quality on both was identical although the Panny probably had a slightly better colour.

Now I'm not sure what to do...

The TV I saw that looked fab was the TX-P42G10, so I bought it.

Now I understand why men aren't allowed to shop for tvs by themselves...
