hi im after a bit of help which of the 4850s are reference design, its just so i can watercool it, i dont need anything more as its just for my htpc

got a reply back from my web note they said i should contact the manufactures and ask, has anyone got a 4850 under water at the moment

i do but im sure you dont want to know what mines being cooled by lol

also i too bought one of those sapphire's and i got some 2 slot orb cooler instead of the single slot design.

Here is a poo quality picture of mine from last year, back when all bar the IceHQ one was using the awful stock design.

No problem connecting a gpu block to it. As you can see, some bodging for the heatsinks on the vrms(sp?). They get seriously hot, and I would recommend much bigger sinks than the usually small memory ones about. I cut up an old Intel P2/P3 era heatsink.

Cant help you on your quest to find out if the non reference PCB's out now have 4 nicely equal spaced holes for gpu blocks.

go on tell all whats cooling yours

i'm usng an old asetek cpu block from about 8 years ago. works quite well tbh and for the vrm's and ram chips i hacked up the reference stock cooler and cut out the gpu section for my block to fit in.

i have since got rid of that card and bought a sapphire like in the OP but like i said it came with an orb cooler and the pcb is blue too. i am now using the same water block and have bought some ramsimks http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SY-006-AK&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=399

the holes for the heatsink are the same on reference as they are on non reference i think as i used the heatsink back plate thing from my reference card on my non reference card and it fit the holes perfect.

i sent sapphire a query this morning about 1am and got a reply at 5 am :D good service they said there early boards were reference and now they use there own boards and i should get in touch with the retailer about which boards they stock are reference, im going round in circles here
