Whats the best 4850 out there? is it worth getting the 1gb version? i game at 1680x1050

I heard they get pretty hot, is it worth gettin a dual slot cooler?

Thanks in advance

The Gainward 'Golden Sample' looks pretty good too.

Also seems like it exhausts a lot of the hot air out of the case and generally runs quite cool.

I have a sapphire with stock cooler, it gets hot but so what, it is stable and I got it at a good price. Personally I would buy the cheapest 512mb card.

Swordfish125 is that fan on your Sapphire toxic noisy?

Its not very noisy but I wouldn't get it for a silent system (similar to a low speed 120mm case fan) but its nothing compared to blower systems at full tilt :D

Just checked out the prices.. damn they've gone up in the last month or two
Great card and software bundle but maybe too much for that price! Get the Powercolor PCS instead ;)

I've got a toxic with a vortex neo cooler fitted to it. The toxic stock cooler is fairly quiet, but the vortex is quieter & gave a decent temp drop.

I did have to file down the heat sink on the back of the card a little to get the vortex on though, so if you don't want to mod the card in anyway I wouldn't get the vortex.
8.10 of CCC is out now & that has fan control in it so stock coolers can be tweeked a little easier now

It is fairly quiet, no louder than my CPU fan. It not as quiet as my v1000 Zalman that i had on my 8800gt. TBH I kinda dropped a bollock. wish i had bought the powercolour for £120 and OC it, the only thing i would say is that i dont think you can overclock the RAM on the PC very much cause of the cooling.
That said im very happy with the Sapphire, i think you could get same clock speed on the PowerCol but not the Ram... maybe diff ram chips or summin but im not sure tbh.
