Been having some artifact problems on my 1950 and am considering getting a 4870X2, but this will be the first time ive spent this much money on an fx card since my Geforce 3

When i bought my Sapphire 1950 i thought it had a 2 year warranty, so when it started playing up (just over a year old) the place i bought i from said, no we only do a 1 year warranty for it
Sapphire is impossible to get hold of, although i discovered that a company in Slough deals with faulty Sapphire cards, but will send them back 'for a price' - but even they're hard to get hold of!

In every review i have seen for these cards, a major concern is the temperature it reaches, so im thinking .... how long will this card last

So, which make do i go for, who gives the longest 'actual warranty'.

How long are OCUK's warranties? I just dont want to spend this much money on a card which, due to the rather extreme temperature it reaches, dies rather quickly.

Cheers

The 4 series tend to run hot as ati seem to have set the fan speeds at 20 percent rivatuner should have 4 series support soon and i believe theres also a beta version out atm. So set the fan speed a little higher and there goes your trouble. Also i don't think they reach heats that will give the card a much shorter life as that would not be in ati's best interests.

Well my 1950 gets reasonably hot, ive never overclocked it and its the first graphics card i have owned which has started to fail on me :(

So every reseller i have found seems to limit the warranty to 1 year, doesnt seem very fair seeing as most manufacturers warranties last for 2-3 years except for HIS which is only 1

Bit of a scam all of this, for example:

All ASUS VGA cards purchased after January 1st, 2001 will carry 3 year warranty services. ASUS product warranty is based on the serial number printed - Please contact your reseller

Sapphire VGA products carry a 2 year warranty with all enquires carried out through your initial place of purchase. This can only be carried out by the original purchaser. Please contact your Dealer/Reseller for Warranty / RMA service.

So you buy from a reseller with a 1 year warranty, then if it fails you go to your manufacturer only for them to tell you to go to your reseller

Aha! Found one, quite a bit more expensive than the rest, but that could have something to do with the following:

3 year warranty plus.....

MSI Computer (UK) Ltd.
Address: Unit 3, Swallowfield Centre, Swallowfield Way, Hayes, Middlesex, UB3 1AW, UK

How refreshing :p
