I'm in need of suggestions please for a UHD Blu-ray player to go with my LG 65 OLED and Marantz SR6014 receiver.

Looks like the Panasonic DP-UB820 is the one to get but it's been out a while now, is it due to be replaced or is there anything else to consider.
The UB9000 looks good but is it worth the extra cash for the higher end case when I don't need the extra audio connections?

Thank you

I’ve got the Panasonic DP-UB820 and it’s been great for Dolby Vision and HDR content and for a more reasonable price. Not sure there’s much more that can be done with the players. Their HDR optimiser is the best for tone mapping too.

It is slightly noisier than the 9000 but as you say, the case on that is high end. I couldn’t justify keeping mine after the 820 came out.

Thanks, as you're someone that's owned both and stuck with the 820 I think that will be the one I get. Hopefully won't hear any disc noise.

I've been running the Panny UB700 since it came out and it's running perfectly. However, in my recent home cinema build, I've decided to go with the Sony X800 simply because it's got a terrific build quality. Doesn't have DOLBY Vision, however I don't have the hardware for it anyway... but it's a stunningly nicely heavy piece of kit, the build is a lot better than my Panny which is also fantastic, runs quiet and has a great picture!. Right, now, if you dont need DV, then I'd be going Sony X800... if you do... the UB820 like stated is a quality piece of kit. Depends what your budget is really. Mine was low for the Sony due to the cost of my build, I picked my Sony X800 up for £202 quid so couldnt' say no.

Well it would be nice to have all picture formats covered so I think the UB820 is the one. I did look at Sony and Pioneer options but nothing covers everything like the Panasonic does?

SONY UBP-X800M2 has Dolby Vision. So does the cheaper Sony UBP-X700.

The Panasonic is the best one to get. Picture quality wise and price wise.

If you get the UB820, you’re set until a new format crops up. :)
Yeah which will arrive the minute you take delivery of your new toy hahaha... sick of the formats at the minute, they're making Amplifers obsolite with variations, drives me insane...

Yep correct which was well weird when I got mine, never understood why you'd out it n the 700 and then a higher model you wouldn't... M2 was too expensive for me at the minute.

This also drives me mad, bought the SR6014 for 4K support and now the SR6015 is out with 4K 120hz and all the good new stuff that my C9 OLED supports but receiver doesn't.
Not that I need it as I don't play games on it but annoying none the less!

100% fella, I had a fantastic Yamaha 4k AMP, BUT then they changed and said actually it isnt really as it doesnt have HDCP 2.2 compliant, so I couldn't run SKYQ through it etc... all these little things can make a lot of outdated tech... does my head in... create a format... agree the standards and stick to it. Remember Bluray? What a disgrace that was HD-DVD was the better format by far, Bluray went through about 3 iterations before it became a standard... disraceful as I was an early adopter there. Hey ho so is tech change :-)
