I'm going to be buying a new graphics card in the coming month (following the thread here), and have been aiming to get the 560ti (unless there is something better for me to get) - however, after seeing the number of different types there are on the OC website, I was wondering if anyone out there could please advise me on which one to get (willing to spend up to £250).

Case - Antec 900 Ultimate
Motherboard - Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 - Yorkfield (Overclocked to 3GHz)
RAM - Corsair TwinX DDR2 PC2 (2x2GB)
Graphics Card - 512MB Nvidia BFG Tech 9800 GTX, PCI-E 2.0
PSU - 620W Corsair HX Series
OS - Windows 7 Premium - 64 bit

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Looking at info the 7850 and 7870 launch in March.

I would wait at least until then before making a decision, as they could and should both fall into your budget range. Even if they come out and make other prices drop it's still worth a couple of weeks wait.

Thanks for that, having a look at the threads regarding them now and from the sounds of it I might have to wait :D

Just make sure you get a 2Gb version if you decide to not wait for the new Nvidia 6xx cards due in a month or so.

Was planning on getting one of those yeah, but might have to wait a couple of months and see what comes of the others.

About the 7950/70... with an older core 2 quad, your CPU may possibly bottleneck the GPU

Ah drats, I have next to no knowledge of bottlenecking. Is there anyway I can tell if my CPU'd get bottlenecked with either the 2GB MSI Twin FrozR II or the OCUK 560ti? I mostly run my games at 1920x1080, and games such as SW:TOR, Rift, BF3, Rage, etc.

So many problems with the 560 ti, I'd go for a 570 if you can't wait, less than £220 new these days (kfa2)

The 2 Gb version is a waste of money for anything more than £180.

The 1280 Mb 448 version, or a GTX 570 is far better at everything.

Don't buy into the lie that more Vram on a slower GPU is better, futureproof, or worth more money, it never is.

I'd be getting it for the much better and quieter cooler, but yeah if that wasn't an issue for you the the normal 570 is marginally faster but louder under load.

I have been using a gtx 560ti twin frozr ii (1gb) for the last couple days and I have never noticed any issues with the lower vram? played bf3 on high settings with deferred aa on max with a very playable 60+ fps....at 1080p

So personally unless you are really worried about the multimonitors or stupid amounts of aa then I dont see why much more than a 560ti (any 560ti) would be necessary. Don't get me wrong a 570 is a good card, had one myself, but the extra 250mb isnt really that big of a deal, and whilst the clocks are good, most 560ti's with a decent cooler can oc to 570 performance with ease.

Many thanks for the advice guys :) it's greatly appreciated. And sorry for the noob question, but if I did go for the 560/570, would I be at risk of getting bottlenecked with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450?
