Hi all, been looking around to buy a 580 but there are so many to choose from. Should I go witha 3gb or 1.5 one. I use a single monitor so no multiple monitor setup. Also between brands, which one you like the most?
Looking forward to your answers

U might pay a little more but personally i would always go with Evga for the warranty and customer support, as for memory what resolution is that single monitor and can u list the rest of ur system plz ?

single monitor is 1920x1080 24 inch monitor. Also my specs are:

core2quad q6600 at 3.2,
4GB XMS Memory module 1333MHz
motherboard mobo p5g41t-m/usb3

But I am going to upgrade soon to i5 but seeing my current graphic card is ati 4890, i thought I should upgrade graphics first

agreed. EVGA/MSI/Gigabyte. nothing else (maybe Zotac :p)
Although, EVGA is best out of the three for CS and the DS cooler is pretty good aswell :D

I'd upgrade your RAM aswell. Not because, you have to, but because it's so cheap you might aswell :p

I'd agree with Cleeecooo here.

The MSI 580 twin frozr is a nice card, obviously biased, as I've got one. But so is the Gigabyte, ASUS, or the EVGA. Pretty much "pick one" and you wont be disappointed.

PS. If only running a single monitor, I would not waste your money on a 3GB version of the 580 (only my personal opinion here of course).

note: Asus are terrible for RMA's. I'd stay away ;)

Any 580 will be awesome but will not be used at it's full potential with the q6600.
I'd go for the i5 2500k upgrade first .....

Something like this will be fantastic and at that price you'd be mad not to upgrade the ram to 8gb.

Tough decision... though there is something in what he says. Though I'd make sure you get 8GB of memory if going down this route first, what with it being so cheap. This is in fact what I did, SB upgrade first, then 580. Swings and roundabouts really. :):):)

I'd go for the i5 2500k upgrade first. I take it you are using 775 socket so you'll have to upgrade your motherboard too to 1155 socket.

This is the exact bind I'm in. Running a Q8300 at 3.4ghz and I want a 580 for BF3. But the CPU will probably need an upgrade. Which means a new mobo, which means new RAM, which means, "ah hell may as well build a whole new rig" because I'm annoyingly puristic about this kind of thing.
