Which 580?

Hi folks,

I'm 90% there about buying a 580. I game in 3D so the extra frames will help, and Anandtech benchmarks show the 580 to have noticeably better minimum framerates than the 570. The only question I face now is which one to buy.

The contenders are EVGA for their warranty, or Gigabyte or MSI for their coolers.

Any opinions? I refuse to buy anything from Asus, so they're not a consideration regardless of how good the card actually is.

Thanks :D

I would get the GTX480 SOC.
But if you are certain you want a 580 then THIS one
EVGA come a close second but with about £70 difference, I would get the one I reccomended.

Why exactly are you so against Asus?

Don't get the KFA2 Anarchy Edition. It's a decent card, but the Accelero cooler is too noisy at stock settings, and you'll have to mod the bios (invalidating your warranty) if you want to sort it.

The accelero extreme is one of the quietest coolers ever!!!
I think you may just have had a bad experience or you are incredibly sensitive to noise

Tried a 480 SOC. Just been sent back under DSR after getting a buzzing noise. I think it was on your advice, Cleeecooo.

I'd be willing to chance another if they came down in price again. I'm not buying for about a week as I'm away until next Wednesday, so I have until then to make a decision, but I just fancied a 580 for some reason...

As for the Asus thing, I bought a 3D monitor bundle from them and it developed a fault after only a few months, so I asked for a new one, and they sent me a refurbished one covered in scratches. I'll never shop at the e-tailer where I got it again either, seeing as they were so determined not to help me with any part of the returns process.
