Looking for a PSU as per title, the cheaper the better (whilst retaining some degree of quality/stability). Will be used to power:

Q6600 @ 3.0GHz
2 x 2GB PC1066
GTX 295/similar SLI/Crossfire
2 HDD
1 DVD RW
Load of fans

All I know is it's going to need a beefy 12V capability for the 295.

What say you OcUK? Looking to spend (ideally) under £60, but may stretch for the right PSU. So basically as cheap as possible without blowing up my PC. :p

I Run Q6600 at 3.0ghz with 8gb of Corsair xms and 3 SATA HDD and 2 DVD Writers with Radeon HD 4870 with a 700w OCZ Stealth Xtreme 2 PSU.

Posted pc world link for quickness but I'm sure you will find one cheaper.

No issues at all with my spec and quiet aswell.

My recommendation :)

To be honest, my choice would be a Corsair TX650V2. I just don't like OCZ's corner cutting.

As the OP has mentioned SLI/Crossfire they'd be better off with a PSU with 4 PCI-E power connectors to avoid using adapters

Most medium/high end cards require 2 connectors each.

The HD 6850 is about as far as you can go with a single power connector.

It would be better if we knew what cards they planned to SLI or Crossfire.

Sorry to butt in, but I am looking for exactly the same.

Would you say that the OCZ Z-Series 850W for £89.99 is the best 'bang for buck' at the moment?

I'm going to be powering a GTX 295, which uses one 8 pin and one 6 pin connector AFAIK.

Not to bothered about going SLI/Crossfire ATM really (was considering adding another 4870, but a 295 has come along).

The more I think about it, the more I like the sound of the 700W model as it's modular, and the last couple of PSUs I've had were modular. :o

Gold rated.

Modular.

The full 850W available on the 12V rail.

Four 6/8 pin PCI-E power connectors.

There's not a lot not to like about it if you need/want an 850W PSU.

Note the ATX power connector is 24 pin, not 20+4, so it's not suitable for older motherboards with a 20 pin connector.

To be honest, I don't really need 850w at the moment but am looking at dual graphic card setups shortly so will cover all bases.

I have a Corsair TX750w at the moment but it is not modular and the mess in my case is both ugly and I am sure not helping with cooling!
