right, guess im gonna make the plunge but which card to go for?

thinking of one of these two:

XFX GeForce 7800 GS Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT70-KUAD7) (GX-069-XF)

and

BFG GeForce 7800 GS OC 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-016-BG)

found on here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7800AGP_Series.html

the xfx card is clocked 40mhz more on the core and 50mhz more on the ram than the BFG card. would both cards overclock to the same level or would the xfx card overclock higher than the BFG card?

Why not go for the Leadtek and save yourself some money? It'll clock just as well as any other brand :)

hmm, leadtek seems to be 5 quid cheaper than the BFG since the BFG card is on special offer this week.

whats the average overclock on these 7800GS cards? do they manage 450mhz on the core?

For only £5 difference then, you may as well get the BFG with lifetime warranty.

450 core shouldn't be a problem with good cooling. Seen some that do 500+ (check ORB) :)

does anyone know what type of ram is used on the BFG 7800GS card? i read that it is samsung but not sure if its 1.6ns or 1.4ns ram?

I don't think that cooler will work on the 7800GS. http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=91 ...just PCIe :(

I think all cards will OC to a similar level as as there are no aftermarket coolers for it I'd suggest trying to find out what the quietest model is. I have the XFX (i think) and the fan is loud. Great card though!
