Would I be right in thinking that two reference cards would be better to crossfire than ones that had custom coolers which exhaust the heat from the top?

I was originally looking at getting two XFX Black Edition DD though they seem to not have the exhaust outlets on the back of the cars unlike the normal XFX Black Edition cards.

TBH, with a case such as the HAFX, I dont think it matters too much if it exhausts hot air inside the case, it wont hang around very long.

I read a thread from a lad who had 2x XFX Black Edition DD, and he said that his top card was getting so hot within 15mins it was causing BSOD's.

I assumed this was because his hot air wasnt exhausted out the back of the case though im not sure what case he had.

Without knowing what he has, its hard to tell.

The thread I read had reported high 90's just before BSOD's... However as I said I dont know what case he had.

As for the cards, Id have to get the XFX Black Edition ones as they are only £20 more :)

I dont think the black edition is worth the extra £20 when you can move the sliders and oc in ccc for free
Agreed, plus, me and two mates are sick to death of XFX and their poor build quality, I've had 2x4850's die on me within 2 years, my mates 6950 from clockers was faulty as well and my mates ols XFX from 2 years ago has just bitten the bucket. I think there made of paper... when will eVGA release there!

No offence to the site but I dont like "value" stuff. Ive always used XFX products without a problem. I want one of the branded one (well two) and only said XFX as they are the next in price :)

It's not really OcUK value, it'll be one of the branded reference cards, but you won't know which one, could even be XFX - They're all the same cards, even the XFX (except the DD cooled one which is fail)

Yes I know that but I prefer a card from someone who is known for being good at putting together GPU's.

OC gets loads out of me anyway when I buy parts, I just know what brands I like.

I def wont be spending the extra £100 for the DD versions (before release I wanted these.. though didnt realise what the price difference would be) so the normal XFX/Asus one will do me :)

Id love the 1335mhz ones from Sapphire, though im getting bored of waiting for an ETA for that card.
