Which 7inch tab for Mum? Nexus vs Memo

As title suggests i am looking for a 7" tab for my Mum for Xmas. She read a lot and has a kindle for that, but will use the new tab at night to read. Was looking at the Kindle Fire HD new version, but found it was limited app wise for catchup tv.
So now i'm looking at the old Nexus 7 or the new Memo HD 7.

I'm tempted towards the Asus Memo HD 7, but would like others advise on the matter.

I'd recommend the memo if its cheaper than the nexus 7. I believe they are very similar.
