Hi Everyone,

Can you help me decide which Switch to buy please.. My options are below. At present I am leaning over the Cisco SD2008T because it supports Jumbo Frames. But please feel free to comment. Thanks.

  • HP ProCurve 1410 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch
  • Cisco SD2008T 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch
  • Netgear ProSafe GS108 8 Port Gigabit Switch

Apart from the colour of the paint you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between the HP and the Netgear.

If you have a use for Jumbo Frames then the Cisco would make sense.

I’ve recently been looking at the ProSafe Plus GS108E as it offers some additional features (VLAN, QOS, Etc.), but still no Jumbo Frames AFAIK.

According to this page on Netgear's site some versions of the GS108 do support jumbo frames. I'm guessing it's the later ones but I can't get at mine to see if the serial number is in any of the ranges mentioned.

It's a bit late, but I just realised that the ProCurve 1410 also appears to support Jumbo Frames.

Tomorrow I'm going to a site where I recently installed two of them, if I get the opportunity I'll try it.
